AC dead

Hi guys, I'm in the middle of the trip back home from holidays and suddenly the AC gave up on me.

After a stop for refueling I got back on the highway but air vents are blowing only hot air.

Before the stop regular freezing air, right after the stop the AC compressor isn't even starting up.

Stopped at the next station, checked and replaced all fuses having to do with AC, opened the engine fuse box to check the integrity of the wires inside there but the compressor isn't even starting up...

I can't hear it clacking and starting.

Even the additional radiator fan I've connected to the AC, which is supposed to run continuously when the AC is on, is starting.

Any ideas?

Question: how does these HVAC systems work?

Meaning, a sudden loss of gas from the AC circuit could prevent the compressor from starting or it would start anyway, only not blowing fresh air?

Brainstorming: blinkers blinking on opening/closing

Hi everyone, I'm launching a global brainstorming: my 2001 Chevy Tahoe LT doesn't blink when opening/closing with the fob and it's very annoying to me as I always have to listen or pull an handle to check if he actually opens/closes when I push the buttons.

How can I make him blink like once when closing and twice when opening?

Is there some hack I can do on him or maybe some aftermarket "electric box" I can connect somewhere to make him do that?

Rear climate controls

Hi everyone, I have a 2001 Tahoe LT with standard manual climate controls and A/C on the front dashboard, plus the three knobs on the upper roof panel for rear seats ventilation.

Is it normal that when I run the A/C the air comes out freezing cold from the front air vents but if I turn on the rear ventilation with the upper knob air comes out warm, or even hot in plain summer, from the roof air vents?

Is there something wrong with mine, or was there an option to get separate A/C for the back seats as well, and does mine only have basic ventilation for the rear seats?

3D print dashboard details

Hi everyone,

do you know someone who does 3D printing of parts in general for our trucks?

I'm planning a rear wiper delete and I need a blank cover for the spot where now there's the knob.

My specific actual part has the wiper knob on the upper side and nothing in the lower part.

I did a fast research on the Bay and on the web in general but for that specific spot it seems impossible to find a blank cover.

Thank you all in advance!

Mike Inez's bass MTV Unplugged

Does anyone know what happened to the bass guitar Mike used during the MTV Unplugged performance, the one with the inscription “Friends don't let friends get friends haircut”?

Squeaking sound steering/turning right

Hi everyone,

in these last days I'm hearing a squeaking sound coming from the front end, only when moving forward and only when steering/turning right.

Not a sound when reversing or turning left.

Any ideas?

Wheel hubs?

Steering box?

2001 Chevy Tahoe wiring diagrams

Hi everyone, can you help me finding wiring diagrams for a 2001 Tahoe LT?

I need to do some works & mods and I need detailed wiring diagrams from the factory. Everything I can get my hands on would be great, with particular focus on the engine bay, fuse and relais boxes, e-fans, HVAC....
