Studio vs Unplugged - Sludge Factory

Day 4/12
My opinion: >! This might be the hardest one to choose, but I think I'm going to go with studio. The vocal layering goes super hard and I love the long outro. There's no denying however that unplugged is incredible with his solo voice and the acoustic guitars, and that iconic fuck up at the start. I listen to both of these pretty much equally.!<
Real Thing, reminds me of The Doors music for some reason.
Does this song remind anyone of the Doors music?
I don't think thry ever said the doors influenced them but i get a doors vibe from this song. Great song btw.
What games was Layne Staley playing?
I know he liked Zelda but what else ? Its sad he never got to play San Andreas.
The Alice in Chains book by David DeSola
How many of you have read it, and what did you learn?
I just finished it and think its underwhelming. It just isn't what I had hoped.
a song i’ve been really addicted to this year.
last year, i really started getting into aic, digging the rabbit hole of their songs. been besides from their most popular music, ive been digging in the rabbit hole. been blasting frogs, sludge factory, rotten apple, junkhead, hate to feel, love hate love, dirt, grind, died, get born again, sea of sorrow, dam that river a bunch of more underrated bangers. long layne ❤️

Studio vs. Unplugged - Brother
Day 2/12
My opinion: >! Unplugged, and it's not even close. Layne's added harmony (especially the acapella for the last verse) absolutely takes the cake. I also think the mixing is better and I prefer the acoustic guitar solo. !<
Sep '22 in Phoenix, Absolute Genius
There was an earlier post about best AIC songs. It's a preference, but there's a reason this is played at every show and they opened unplugged with it. Loss, regret, love, hope, you name it, you feel it. This guy makes a guitar wail. Amazing.
Do you think that they are going to put out a rerelease of unplugged on vinyl and maybe a t shirt for the anniversary of unplugged?
Must consume 45 dollars t shirts
Jerry next to Carmen Electra at the fight tonight?
Watching Rousey vs Carano on Netflix and look who I spotted next to Carmen Electra. Yeah! Plus he's wearing a Rooster hat??? Awesome.
Layne Staley portrait drawing from '93 finland interview
Let me know if I made him too baby-faced or something, sometimes I get sorta snowblind after staring at a drawing for a long time and don't notice if some proportion or other is off.
His lips especially have a unique shape that was hard to recreate, plus that interview video is very low-res to add to the challenge
Shame in you is one of the best song ever
What the fuck man. I been listening AiC very recently. Like a few months. But Shame in You makes me want to come everytime i listen to it. The vocal melody and the weird harmony are crazy. It always hook me at the start. But the guitar work is crazy. I love how it very slowly constructs the song behind it. It is not a complex structure or anything but i think have never listen to a song where the guitar is progressing slowly while the chorus remains relatively unchanged. But the final part is from another world man. What the fuck. It is usually considered a sad song but "And you must change patterns all we trained Or never regain peace you seek Now you hear me, for the things I see Yeah, I believe in inner peace, yeah" is kinda a hopeful message to end the song and it is so beutifully convey. It blows my mind it is not a song more talked about and how i have seem people who consider it the worst song of AiC.
Studio vs Unplugged - Nutshell
Day 1/12 comparing every song on unplugged to their studio counterparts. I'm curious to see the discussions that evolve from this.
My opinion: >! I generally prefer the studio version. I think the electric guitar and Layne's layer ooooos are very important. I also think the drum mix with the heavy kick adds a lot that unplugged doesn't have. That being said, both are incredible. I think unplugged certainly has an emotional depth to it that is unmatched. !<
In my opinion this is the most underrated song
Hung on a Hook to me is criminally underrated. Duvall is an absolute beast on the mic in this song-going from lower to higher or softer to more powerful vocals. Not only that but to has to be one of the most Alice In Chains song i’ve ever heard. Sorry for rant just wanted to see who else thinks the same lol.
I got good things in the mail today!
Night shift reading material!
