Always say the truth
It should be absolutely clear that you must disclose if you have herpes or if you transmitted it. Not only does it help the other person and is the right thing to do, it also feels better.
I had a cold sore, and a week ago, I thought it was healed despite obvious warning signs. Because I was horny, I kissed my girlfriend, and the next day, I had a cold sore again. I freaked out and realized I had ignored her well-being for the sake of fun. That’s evil and selfish. I did something unforgivable that could change her life for the worse. Then I read the understandable hate for people who transmit it here in Reddit.
I told her I probably infected her the day after we kissed. I took responsibility and braced myself for the consequences. But instead of breaking up with me and banning me from our shared friend groups, she took it really well. We analyzed that we can’t change the past and discussed what to do going forward. We talked about what amends I’d have to make. Then she forgave me.
She didn’t have to do that. She extended grace. Sometimes you get lucky. Do the right thing and tell the truth, even If you are afraid like I was.
