Update: Scammer threatened, now leaving confused voicemails – is this normal?

Hi all, I posted earlier about my friend who fell for a Discord camera scam. The seller used friendly "mate" language and convinced my friend to send Apple Gift Cards little by little over a month, since they didn't understand how gift cards worked until I explained it. After my friend finally stopped responding and blocked them, the scammer went completely unhinged from late May until now.

They started sending disturbing texts—asking about my friend's mom out of nowhere (they don't know her), mentioning they have my friend's address, and demanding replies. The messages also included a suicide threat, saying they'd write a "suicidal note jotting all details of you" if my friend didn't reply.

Then, early this morning, the scammer left a voicemail with a completely different, confused tone: "I'm lost. I'm going to say, I'm calling to check on the company. Because I have some items to **** soon."

The contrast is striking. The texts are dramatic and threatening, while the voicemail is rambling and almost casual. It doesn't add up—a genuinely suicidal person wouldn't switch from "I'll kill myself" yesterday at night to a confused voicemail about "checking company" the next morning. It feels like they're using different scripts.

The "check company" line itself is nonsensical. What company? Check it for what? They're clearly making this up as they go, and the voicemail starts with "I'm lost," which makes me wonder: is this a confession of defeat, or just another desperate manipulation tactic?

I've been telling my friend to keep ignoring and blocking everything. But I wanted to ask: has anyone seen this pattern of threats followed by rambling voicemails? What do you think "check company" actually means? And should my friend be worried about the address threat despite these obvious contradictions?
