Major improvements after quitting diet soda
Just sharing this in case it could help anyone else.
I’m preparing to start tirzepatide for weight loss and have given up my decade long consumption of 4 cans per day (sometimes even more) of Diet Dr. Pepper. I will need to be focusing on drinking water once I start the medication.
Not only was giving up this compulsive habit much easier than I thought it would be, I have noticed major improvements in my HS. My first HS lesion was below my belly button over 20 years ago. Since then I’ve had it in my groin, them armpits. Interestingly my groin went into remission once it started in my pits. I’ve tried diets and exercise for over ten years to lose weight, and nothing made a difference like quitting soda has. Every day I’m in awe as I notice the lesions becoming flat and fading, with no indication of new ones forming.
I always thought since I wasn’t drinking full sugar soda they wouldn’t affect me in any way. Now my thinking on that has changed! I am also sleeping much longer and deeper at night since I’ve been drinking only water and my usual one cup of coffee a day.
So if anyone else with HS has a soda habit like I did, I think it would be worth it to try one month without it and see if it makes a difference. It’s only been three weeks but the difference was almost immediate for me.
