So I understand his motivations, keeping the world from ending, keeping it frozen in the endless now, but I don't understand his character.

Why do an endless war? Why create the consuls? Why 10 years? And why is he so sardonic, he claims it amuses him, yet he speaks with disdain or boredom. Why the theatre? Why is he so contradictory? Why claim to hate the world when his biggest wish was to protect it? Does he actually believe the world is good for anyone other than Moebius? How did N and M defeat him?

What's the sword he presented to N in origin? Why doesn't he get off his ass and do it himself? What is Z infinity? And why letters?

Are these all obvious, and am I a dumbass?
