Option between Xenoblade 1, 2 or 3

I want to get into xenoblade for the first time since I am looking for new games and I saw theres a new one coming out soon so I want to see what the games are like, however I am unsure of which one I should buy since I can only get one

Tbh anything I know about the game is from ssbu so I am currently favouring 1 or 2 but if 3 is better I could get that instead

Are there any thoughts or general consensus within the community on what game you should start with?

Is the Xenoblade 1 Switch 2 Edition worth it?

I already have the definitive edition on the Switch 1 and currently playing through it after a hiatus. However, idk if it’s worth getting the Switch 2 edition. All ik is that you get some motorcycle that allows for fast travel.

For those looking to grind Noponstone using the new Nopon Grand Prix

Nobody wants to go around messing with drop rates and spawn rates for Colony 6 reconstruction. Thankfully you can buy everything you need from the Nopon Archsage with Noponstone and the newly added Nopon Grand Prix gives a ton of Noponstone per race.

I find racing Melia on the Colony 9 race course to be the fastest. Winning gets you 11200 noponstone and each race takes about 2 minutes. Technically Riki gives you more at 12600 but Riki is generally much slower and very hard to control and the turns in Colony 9's course are pretty wonky. Melia has extremely good handling, relatively fast and her boost guage depletes the slowest of the entire cast so she doesn't need to worry as much about 3-chains to maintain her boost

First impressions on XCX as someone who've spent 500+ hours on thetrilogy

I'm just in Chapter 4 and like everyone says, the story is that generic mute protagonist has amnesia. Hoping this picks up in later chapters.

HOWEVER...

Coming from a 100%playthrough from XCDENS2E, the combat is a breath of fresh air and is really enjoyable! XC2 imo still has the most satisfying combat but I believe this is even better than 3's, and I love that game.

Right now I'm still lost on the controls and how to navigate the map efficiently but I'm having a blast so far.

EDIT: Just unlocked follow ball. I dont have issues with navigations anymore lmaoo

Just finished Xenoblade Chronicles 2 last night

Back in 2017, when this game came out, I hated it. It looked so off-putting, it looked so much of a step backwards, it looked... so bad to me. After Xenoblade 1, this felt like a HUGE setback to me.

The seeming reliance of 'conventionally attractive characters', the much more anime style humor, it all felt so off to me that I just left this game and assumed the worst of it.

Come 2022, when Xenoblade 3 comes out, I loved the designs of that game and thought, "Oh, they're going back to what was good!" and so I really wanted to like that game. I played that before 2, and I DID like it at first but before too long, I started to just get bored of it, finishing it out of obligation. It felt hollow, uninteresting to me (Though to be sure, this isn't me saying it's objectively bad, I just didn't like it). So out of I guess spite, and just to make sure, I decided to go and watch all the cutscenes from Xenoblade 2.

And it genuinely surprised me, you know? There it was, the stuff I disliked, front and center because it's what I expected. I was ready for it. What I didn't expect was genuine respect for the writing that came after those parts. I watched more, liking the characters more and more and more, it was kind of surreal, hating and hating the game before only to grow fond of it suddenly.

It wasn't until I, on a whim with an amazon gift card this year, bought the game, brand new sealed copy. I started my file on June 12th of 2026, and just finished it on July 4th of 2026, clocked in 133 hours total played as of the ending. I loved it.

I loved virtually every second of it. I don't love every single attempt at humor but there were amazing characters. Rex was good, Pyra and Mythra are beloved to me now. Tora started bad for me but even he became decent by just adding in a few twists to the character that weren't reliant on "Haha he's a pervert for robo maid Poppi!" And POPPI was excellent, such a well delivered character. Zeke was a wonderfully fleshed out man, Morag was just such a grounded character. The villains/antagonists themselves had actual points to their stances, even if a bit melodramatic and exaggerated at times.

But that ending. I am still... upset over it. In a fantastically good way. It's up to interpretation, to be sure, but I feel so god damn strongly of what was said. I have firmly fallen in love with the game, the journey, the characters.

It actually almost feels like me hating it for 9 years was on brand, given some of the games themes. Holding onto bad memories, giving into hatred excessively, but somehow finding a way to break through. And I'm so glad I did. So many sleepless nights, so many tears shed playing this game, the way it expresses such complex and profound emotional deliveries has struck so many chords with me, and I'm so grateful.

Starlight Kick in Xenoblade 3

Today I found out that Melia's chain attack finisher Ether Absolute could be inspired by Fiora's art Cross Impact

I know it probably doesn't mean anything but I think it would be really cute if Fiora teached her how to do the landing correctly.

What if the new XB2 NS2 edition blade...

Is a mount?

I hardly see them only adding mounts in Xenoblade 1, in 2 we got Dromarch which visually looks like a mount on Nia but is only visuals. What if they make a blade which is a mount you can unlock in Uraya and which tree progresses similarly to Ursula? (As they are making Merc missions playable in enemy waves with blades)

I can also see the new hero in 3 being an engineer from the City or something you get to know before Maktha Forest, which would also give you access to mounts

8 years of Collecting

It all started with Xenoblade 2 in July of 2018. I never thought this series would have such an impact on me. I’m gonna need way more space for when Genesis releases…
