Possible to show all images in a grid (rather than split by month)?

I don't take that many photos on a daily or even monthly basis, so when I'm trying to flick through 20 years worth of photos, particularly if I'm drilled down into just one sub-album, there's often huge white gaps everywhere and it's a bit of a waste of space.

I'd like to have a more compact view, does anyone know if this is possible?

PSA: Linux logout bug (primarily Yubikey users)

OS: Mint 22.3.

Browser: Brave (v1.93.136), also tested in the latest Chrome.

I think I finally figured out how to reproduce this.

I use a Yubikey and set my BW session to logout when my OS logs out, as per the screenshot. It always works for a few days, and then my BW settings revert from logout back to lock. And this would be fine, except using my Yubikey to unlock stopped working too. It started happening a few months ago.

I tried reinstalling the extension, I also tried a different browser - all the same. The "On system lock" setting would never stick for long.

Then I had an epiphany ...what if the Timeout option of "On system lock" is just broken? I changed it to timeout after 5 mins instead of on system lock, and the problem went away. I've been testing this for a few weeks and so far so good.

If anyone else has been experiencing this, try this workaround. This primarily affects Yubikey users as I can't imagine anyone else would want to perform a full logout every time, it would be annoying as hell. But in theory this affects anyone using this setting.

Is it possible to copy photos directly to my "Uploads" directory?

I want to create an Immich Album from a folder on my external harddrive because I'm sick of having to drill into my Folders directory every time; there's way too many clicks. However, when I try to add my photos to an album using the UI (see #1 above), it hangs after about 500 photos, I've tried it so many times but it just won't handle "large" volumes.

So I tried just directly copying photos into my uploads folder (into the sub-directory that my album auto-created, see #2 above), but now they don't appear in my Album. I've re-run all the jobs and that didn't fix it. How can I get this to work?

Basically I'm trying to assign a sub-set of my photos to an Immich Album but this is proving to be quite challenging, OR i'm simply doing it wrong. I'm really not sure.

How to add all photos in an external drive folder to an immich folder?

I don't like having to drill into my sub-directories just to see all the photos in a certain folder (too many clicks). Is there a way to bulk add all photos (and its sub-directories) to an Immich folder so it's more easily accessible?

Is the 5G Backup for outages only, or can it make up for a spotty connection?

I'm helping someone with a really bad connection. The story goes - while they were installing the fibre optic cables, the wife drove over them while they were being laid out by the technician. She didn't mention anything at the time, only bringing it up after the technician had already laid them underground. Brilliant.

When I check their connection, it looks like this (on a good day): https://i.postimg.cc/1tfQz8V0/spikes.png

Generally there's 3-4x more orange lines.

The internet never goes out completely, it's just really slow when this happens. They've been through hell trying to get this fixed, I won't go into the boring details here.

So it got me thinking - what about the 5G Backup router?

But I wasn't sure if it's designed for outages only where there's zero connectivity, or whether it can be used to paper over a spotty connection that still works, but is just insanely slow at times?

Wizard Base size 40, $470USD shipped anywhere in the world (only shipping is included, not tarrifs)

Good condition, I’ve taken extensive photos. Comes with an extra set of ratchet buckles that can be swapped out with the Velcro strap based on your preferences. Outer shell skated for 12 months, liner is only 6 month old due to being replaced with a new one on a warranty claim. Selling because while they fit me fine, I can't use an insole in them so I've had to size up.

Pricing methodology:

  1. I took the typical used price range of $450-550USD. The lower end of this range is usually for boots in much worse condition but I don't like to haggle, so I've gone with the lowest.

  2. I researched USPS and the cost to ship this from NY to LA is $20. I know not everyone lives in the US (cause I don't), but I don't like to over complicate things, so I've gone with something simple.

I freaking love my UNAS2! A perspective from a NAS layman

I bought this knowing the mountain of shortcomings it has, and I was worried that as I started using it more, they would begin affecting me, but so far they haven't and I'm really happy with this purchase.

The biggest thing for me was easy cloud backups (I use Backblaze B2) and easy snapshotting etc. This is something I could easily accomplish through some basic scripting but I wanted a simple, clean, robust interface and notifications for this. I didn't want any doubt at all about whether my job ran successfully or not...did I configure it right...did it fall over cause I didn't keep it up to date or something. Yes it's silly that the biggest value add for me was having a nice UI to replace something I could probably script up in 5 mins, but that was important to me.

Otherwise, I use it as a NAS. I connect a bunch of stuff around the home to it and just perform backups as a central data transfer hub. Nothing special at all.

Anyway I thought I'd chime in as a happy customer - I know it has shortcomings and I've seen a lot of people confused about why anyone would even buy this, but there definitely is a market for products like this.

I've finally made the "full" shift to Immich!

18 months ago I started using Immich, but only as a way to bring my old photos back to life (they were sitting on an external HDD). However, I didn't want to take the next step of using as my day-to-day driver of new photos until I had sorted out what my transfer strategy would be. Do I use the built in sync function? Do I handle these transfers outside of Immich? Now that I've tested it all and have settled on which route to take, I've made the leap!

The only thing I keep on my phone now are photos and videos that I'm actively working on / editing, as it's a bit easier, especially with stuff like slow-mo footage, but everything else is now routinely shifted off my phone. It's so liberating to have full control over my content now.

(for those of you wondering which route I took, I'm handling all transfers outside of Immich using PhotoSync. I loathe having to use a separate tool for this when Immich has it built in, but the fact that Immich doesn't retain all the original versions on iPhone was kind of a dealbreaker for me...I hope this is resolved one day, I'd love for Immich to handle it all end to end)

Is this expected behavior (iPhone)?

I enabled backups, selected a test album, and turned on “Sync Albums”. I put two photos into my test album: Photo A and B. I synced them and they appeared in Immich. So far so good.

I then removed Photo B from the album in the Photos app (not Immich). In Immich, I then forced a sync by pressing “Organize into albums”.

At this point I expected Photo B would remain in Immich, but it would be removed from the album, but it’s still there even after a manual sync. Is this the way Immich is supposed to work?

UNAS: does wishing there was native Syncthing support violate the whole "a NAS should be a NAS" philosophy?

So I'm very new to world of NASeses, and at the beginning I didn't quite buy into the whole "a NAS should be a NAS, not a whole freaking server" thing. I thought why not? What's wrong with having Jellyfin on it, or Plex, etc etc etc.

Now I get it. I finally understand it.

However, the one minor thing that keeps nagging away at me is Syncthing. I wish I didn't have to keep at least two machines on to create a Dropbox-like experience.

Does this run against the grain of "a NAS should just be allowed to be a NAS" philosophy? Is it blasphemy that I even say this? Cause even though I thought it should be able to do more at first, I've never found the desire at all...I keep a dedicated server for all that crap.

Except, I keep longing for Syncthing...

Anyone looked at Ente Locker?

At first I thought it was just another password manager but then I realised it’s focused on legacy management.

I‘m trying to think whether it’s redundant cause I have a bunch of existing measures (recovery sheet, offline + offsite backups etc)…or does it fill some sort of gap? I’m curious if anyone has thought of a gap it might fill? If there are interesting use cases I’d love to hear them.

[Repost] I never expected to prefer using my Yubikey...

I originally posted this in the YK sub.

I expected a trade-off between security and usability. It would be more secure, sure, but it would also make things much worse from a usability perspective...

...but here I am, actually preferring to use it. I only need to enter a pin rather than my Bitwarden master password. Yes I know you can set a pin on password managers, but it's not exactly the same as a hardware token.

Color me surprised. I did not expect this outcome.

(sorry I just realised this is missing some context that might confuse some people, a few months ago Bitwarden updated their browser plugin so that you can use your Yubikey now to log in, it's really cool...I don't use Yubikey for everything, mainly as a "gate" into my BW to avoid having to enter my master password too often...I think if I used it for everything that would be a little too much friction, though I'm slowly opening myself up to that as I'm really loving this device)

ALSO: I actually prefer using my Yubikey over Windows Hello, too. Yeah seriously, I would never have believed it would be better. I'm used to the lighting fast biometrics on Apple devices, and found Windows Hello to be a massive step down in terms of pure responsiveness (it's noticeably slower) and usability (e.g. in a multi-screen laptop setup, the authentication status indicator isn't always on the laptop's screen where the camera is, FFS, so you've got one eye on your laptop's screen trying to position it for a scan, and another eye looking at the other screen, trying to see if your face has been ID'ed successfully, omg who designs this trash)

Master password re-prompt - no option to use Yubikey instead, is this intentional or just something that hasn't been done yet?

It seems like an obvious omission to me but I wonder if there's a security angle I'm not seeing?

If I put aside any attempt to "future proof", is there any advantage to the Nano USB A version compared to the USB C?

NOTE: Looking at the replies, I don't think I was clear enough in my title. Put aside any attempt to "future proof". I don't care about it. I'm trying to understand the functional / usability differences, I don't really care about future proofing for such a cheap device.

The bigger touch area of the USB A model kinda looks like a nice advantage. On the other hand, I like how the LED is on the "side" of the USB C model, so it stands out a bit more (as it will be facing upwards and thus easier to see).

Just wondering if there are any other considerations?*

*EDIT: aside from future proofing, as future proofing is not my objective**

Is there the equivalent of "Never match" for credit cards?

I have a bunch of bank cards, home loan cards, and cards I only use once a year (e.g. for travel). I'd like to just never have those come up because 99.99% of my online purchases are with my main credit card. Is there a way to declutter my extension screen a little by setting an equivalent to "never"?

What determines if a passkey can be overwritten?

I changed my email address, so I've been updating every one of my passkeys (I know I don't need to, but I wanted to).

I noticed something interesting. About 20% of my passkeys could just be overwritten - I click the little prompt that comes up and it just saves.

The other 80% did nothing when I clicked the same prompt. I had to go into the vault entry, delete the passkey, then do it again.

What rules determine whether it can or can't be overwritten? Is it the way the passkey was created in the first place, like via phone or desktop? Or is it something the site determines?

Multiple password managers in iOS - will this cause any usability issues?

Phone OS: I'm on iOS 26.6. I acknowledge this could very well be a bug as I'm on a beta OS, but I am also a bit worried this could be intentional to try to push people into using their app.

BW app version: 2026.5.0

I've had Bitwarden as my sole password manager for a while. Today I went to download a free app from the App Store and it asked me for my password. I was a bit puzzled - I haven't had to enter my password in a long time. I figured it was an expired token or something and entered it. The next day I was asked again. The password prompt doesn't even let me access or pre-fill from Bitwarden. What the heck.

I don't know what's going on, does the latest version of iOS require their own Password app now for App Store? And the fact that I can't access or pre-fill my password manager via the iOS login prompt - is that new too? App Store seems to be the only area affected.

Anyway, so I turned on Passwords for the first time since forever...but now I'm wondering whether this is going to result in some weird edge cases by having two password managers running at the same time?
