She stopped texting first
For context, (20m) and her (20f) aren’t officially dating, but initially that was just because we’re in different cities for the summer. Now, though, she’s got me skeptical that it’s gonna happen at all.
During the last few days of the semester, we acted like we were dating. I’d hang out at her place a lot, we know each other very well, and she’s confided some very serious things in me. When we were in person, everything was fantastic. And it stayed that way for a bit over distance, too. I drove through her city on the way back from something else and got to stop and hang out with her, and everything was the same. But it’s been another week and some change since then.
Tuesday night, we texted like we were dating. Wednesday, we joked around like usual. Thursday I got almost nothing. A little bit in the morning, but since then, she hasn’t initiated once, and her responses to my (more limited) initiation have been short. Still decent quality, but she seems distant. Like she’s losing interest. Which makes no sense to me, because she gets really attached with stuff like this, and I can’t understand why she would suddenly have lost interest after all the emotional stock I’ve seen her put in me. I was clearly one of her closest friends up until midway through last week, and I don’t know what changed.
Am I cooked? Currently, my plan is to not initiate for now. In a couple days, I might ask if she wants to call and catch up, but there’s still basically three months until classes start back, so either this is the new baseline and I’ve just got to be patient, or she’s losing interest for whatever reason and it’s going nowhere.
