I’m a university student looking for a private, non-shared room in Colombo.
I don’t need anything fancy — just a clean and reasonably safe place with basic facilities.
For those currently renting in Colombo, roughly how much do you pay per month? And which areas would you recommend for a student?
I’ve been struggling with this for a while. Sometimes I take a few pictures and actually think I look pretty good. But then I see other photos, or see myself outside in different lighting, and suddenly I feel like I look completely different — even ugly or terrifying to myself.
I have some acne/scarring and I’m currently getting treatment for it, and I’m also wearing braces, so I already feel quite insecure about how I look.
Because of this, I basically stopped going out for almost a year. I went outside yesterday after a long time, and honestly, I came home feeling really depressed about my appearance.
I know this might be more about how I see myself than how other people actually see me, but I’m finding it really hard to separate the two.
For people who have gone through something similar, how did you change your mindset and become comfortable going outside again? Did your confidence actually improve over time?
