Why is my (relatively) new car battery at such bad health? Why do my car batteries keep dying? (Prius)
I have a 2012 Prius and I got it serviced today. I was surprised when they suggested I replace my battery since it hasn't even been a year since I got a new one. When I get to the shop, I see the battery test with 21% health. I'm starting to get concerned. The current one was one I got was a replacement for the old one that completely died. The one that died also was a replacement for another one that died. I've gone through two (now possibly three) batteries for this car in the less than two years I've had it.
For some info on the car and my driving: it's got roughly 180k miles on it. I drive it around 4-6 days a week, 30 minute round trips on surface roads, no highway. I live somewhere that regularly gets past 100F. With this battery, I've left the lights on overnight once or twice. I regularly use the air conditioning and the radio.
If you have any ideas for what could be going on with my car's battery destroying and how to prevent it, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!
