DSA Rant

I want to talk about this because DSA is really starting to enter mainstream politics. This is the first time the left has had relevance in decades. But I'm very concerned about some of what I'm seeing in the organization. To clarify, I'm not a member because of the reasons below, so I can't speak firsthand about it. But I'd love to hear from anyone who is because they might have a better understanding than I do.

Their foreign policy is just abhorrent. Their official position on Ukraine is basically "Oh, the invasion is bad and we condemn it. But since we're for peace, we think helping Ukraine fight is bad. Diplomacy will solve it (no it fucking won't) and it's NATO's fault for expanding (???) anyway." Shit take. Somehow, helping a country resist imperialist invasion is imperialist.

As for China, the International Committee sent a representative to a PLA parade. This is an endorsement of a fascist military of a fascist state committing genocide.

One chapter endorsed October 7th after it happened. Trust me, I don't fucking like Israel, but I don't support massacres against civilians. This wasn't the whole organization, but it's still bad

Second, they have a major tankie problem. Clearly they control the International Committee. I think it's wrong to allow this in the organization at all, but DSA does in the name of democracy. Red Star comes to mind. I don't know if other factions in the organization have this problem or not, but it's a major issue. DSA chapters have also been documented cooperating with tankie organizations like PSL.

I can't justify giving money or time when I'd have to share the organization with these elements.
