Boyfriend asked me to stop doing drag

So I (M25) have been dating my boyfriend for about 7 months. He knew when we first started going out that I was a drag queen. He did say it wasn’t his cup of tea and that he likes his men more masculine. The catch is that when I’m not in drag, I’m very masculine. Most people would never assume I’m gay. I think that gave him some sort of comfort at the beginning of our relationship, which is why we haven’t had any problems about it until now.

He recently came to me and asked me to stop performing in drag. He mentioned how he’s been starting to have a hard time seeing me perform and be feminine when it’s not what he’s attracted to. I let him know I get where he’s coming from but at the same time, this has developed into a big passion of mine and I didn’t want to stop.

We’re at a stalemate. He’s not budging, and I don’t want to stop doing what I very much enjoy. But, I don’t want to lose him either. I have no idea what to do

EDIT: First of all thank you for the responses. I wasn’t expecting so much activity on this post. For the people saying “He doesn’t have to see you in drag or take part in it”. Yes, that makes sense in theory, but it’s not really plausible to hide every aspect of drag from him. Whether it me my wardrobe and wigs in my apartment, my needing time to rehearse, or if I have to cancel on him for any drag related reason. Yes he doesn’t have to see me in drag, but my drag life would still affect our relationship. Ugh.
