Incoming International Student at Carleton, scared, alone, no housing, no idea what to do 😭
Hi everyone 😭
I’m an incoming international student transferring to Carleton for Fall 2026 and honestly I’m really scared right now.
I didn’t get residence and I’ve been trying Places4Students, Facebook groups, Kijiji and other websites but I still can’t find accommodation. I’m not from Canada, I don’t have a credit score, guarantor, or anyone in Ottawa and I can’t even tour places in person before arriving 💔
Everything feels so overwhelming and foreign rn. I’m coming alone in September and I genuinely don’t know what I’m doing anymore 😭
Does Carleton have any programs that help international students settle in? Like buddy programs, student mentors, temporary housing help, trusted roommates, literally anything? And how do other international students even rent off-campus without Canadian credit history? I just need to find a place. I can pay upfront.
If anyone has advice, experiences, or even just wants to connect pls comment or DM me 🥺 I would really appreciate it more than you know. I just want to know some people before coming because everything feels terrifying rn.
