First Year Aerospace Elective Questions

I am really confused about the elective requirements for aerospace engineering first year. I have several questions so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated

- The course map has a basic science elective listed for first semester and a complementary studies elective for the winter semester. Can I swap the order of them?

- Is this really the whole list of complementary studies electives that I can take or is there any other options? (https://carleton.ca/engineering-design/wp-content/uploads/sites/63/2026/06/FA26-WN27-CSE-Jun-26.pdf ) I hate social sciences with a passion and none of the courses I am interested in fit into my schedule, are there any other courses I can take to meet the requirement not listed?

- If there is a second year course that say they exclude first years and I put in an override request what would that process look like? I have a 9:30 time slot tomorrow for course selection but if I wait for this override request to get back to me I am concerned that they will say no and by that point all other interesting electives will be taken. Is it even reasonable to try to get into the second year course?

I am genuinely stuck at this point. I cannot find a single second semester complementary studies elective that I have even an ounce of interest in that works with my schedule. Even if you anyone could recommend non psychology easy courses it would be helpful. Thanks

Anyone here know about transferring to Carleton?

Confirmed my acceptance about a month ago and I'm going in the fall (completed two years at my previous institution). Does anyone here have experience with the transfer process?

Worried mainly about my audit/registration. I need 8 credits (16 courses) worth of electives for my degree. Currently 3.5 have been evaluated and approved automatically but I have yet to hear back. I have taken 20 courses previously so they all should transfer over at least as electives right?

Does anyone know if it's likely they will approve all my courses based on your own experience with this sort of thing? Do they ever say that some courses don't count, even as electives?

Trans Woman looking for Roommate

Downtown Apartment, Room for Rent, $998.50, Util. extra (Slater Street) [Sept. 1st]

Hello,

I am a mid-20s Carleton Student looking for a roommate for a downtown apartment. My current roommate is moving out at the end of August so I would be looking for a roommate for September 1st.

The location is fantastic! It's a 5 minute walk to Lyon station (both Bus and Train), grocery, Bank St., & Sparks St.. Many local clinics and convenience options.

This unit is fantastic for a U Carleton (1- 2 Busses or 2 Trains) or U Ottawa student (1 Bus or 1 Train). Easy transit to both allowing for mid-day trips home.

Rent is $998.50 with Hydro, Internet & Tenants Insurance extra. The building has paid monthly and visitor parking.

Additionally building has In-Building Laundry, A/C, Pool, Hottub, Exercise Room, Rooftop deck, and secure Mailroom.

The unit comes almost fully furnished, all you would need to be move-in ready is furniture for your room, and any additional dishware you would require.

The unit is Cat friendly. Preference will be given to transgender or queer roommates as well as current students, co-op, new grads, etc.. I am a mid-20s transgender woman.

There is no requirement for a year lease. You can stay as little or as long as you'd like required you provide the appropriate notice.

If you're interested reach out to this post and I can send more pictures, show you the apartment, and discuss any additional questions!

SREE year 1 course registration

Heyo! Course registration is just around the corner and I haven't really thought about it ever since I read that year 1 students essentially have their courses planned out for them already. However I think I recall reading somewhere that we still need to register for electives?

I just want to know in general how course selection/registration works for year 1, and if there are certain electives I should be picking.

Thanks for the help everyone! Can't wait to see you all at CU.

Sitting in classes, unregistered and knowing no one

Thoughts? Have you ever done or seen a student do it? I know it's not against the rules, but how much trouble would I be in if I got found out? How weirded out would the prof be?

I wanted to try a class but I won't be able to register due to reasons so I was thinking of sitting in to listen/take notes to learn on my own even without the credit

What constitutes an arts/social science elective?

For the combined honours math/comp sci the first year course requirements include 1 credit in science, art or social sciences electives. I’m having trouble figuring out how they determine this. Can I take a business course? Econ? How do I figure out where course like those fall?

Looking for a partner for a summer pickleball league!

Hey everyone! My partner had to drop out due to a family issue, so I'm looking for someone who'd be interested in joining me for a summer pickleball league in Ottawa.

I'm 25, pretty easygoing, and play mostly for fun. I have never played before and want to try it out for the first time. The registration fee would be split between u, so if you're interested or want more details about the league, send me a message!

Should I be worried?

I took 2 early summer courses. I already received my final marks for one of my courses. The other, complete silence. I got a 90% on an assignment and that mark also disappeared with 0/52, I know 100% I got a grade and feedback from it.

The final exam also didn’t get graded in brightspace.

I didn’t commit any academic offences so I’m not worried about that. I just don’t know what’s going on.

No response from prof when I emailed him.

It’s my first time taking summer classes so idk if this is normal. My exam was June 24.

Is booking a check-in time really necessary for a returning student at Carleton's residence?

I forgot to pick a residence check-in appointment and I was just wondering... Is it seriously necessary? I mean when I booked it last year it made no difference, lol. I mean sure staff did help with the unloading but I mean I could just find parking somewhere else and do the entire thing myself

🤝 A collaborative event with the Ottawa Rhythm Game Club that brought together players from both communities

🎉 Social events where members could hang out, chat, and meet fellow rhythm game enthusiasts

Whether you're into maimai, Chunithm, Sound Voltex, Project SEKAI, osu!, Taiko or any other rhythm game, you're more than welcome to join us. Even if you've never played before and are just curious, we'd love to have you!

Our goal is to build a welcoming community where people can make friends, discover new games, improve together, and simply have fun.

Course selection - Psychology

I’m having trouble trying to decide between 3 classes to replace PSYC 4003 (guys don’t take it if u have a life outside of readings). The classes I’m looking at are:

PSYC 3405 A (motivation and emotion) prof -TBD
PSYC 2100 A (social psychology) prof- norhan elsaadawy
PSYC 3603 A (psychology of women) prof - TBD

I’m in my 4th year doing a victory Lap to apply to law school so I really just need a class that isnt reading heavy - or has a prof who is an INSANELY HARD MARKER. (They exist)

I was hoping someone who took any of these classes could tell me how hard it was to get the grade you got in the class, it would help me a lot.

Sincerely,
A burnt out 4th year psych student
