Deferring an Exam help

I’m just recovering from a fever, and i have a final tomorrow, and the day after, and another a few days later. issue is, i won’t be well enough to go for tomorrows exam, but i can definitely make Friday work, and just write the exam. however i have a blood procedure LITERALLY THE DAY BEFORE MY 3RD EXAM (cant cancel the appointment), so id have to defer that too. idk what to do.

Do I defer all 3? If so, If i self declare does it cover all 3 exams to defer? I genuinely don’t know how to approach this :(

Unable to register for COOP 1000

Previously took COOP 1000 in 2021 while in another degree. Just finished first year of EE and now have second year standing. The following shows up before registering for courses, but when trying to registering for COOP 1000 I get the warning that the course has restrictions I don't meet.

A) Why is this happening? I saw here that I should've been been notified about eligibility late July, which I wasn't.

B) Would I even need to take it again to do a work term this summer?

Russell House - Laundry Question

Wondering if anyone knows how many washers/dryers are in the laundry rooms in Russell House? I know there is a lower number since they have a laundry room on each floor, but wondering if there is just a single machine on each floor. Any info would be appreciated!

Waitlist Question

dumb question but i need to know.. does “Full, No Waitlist” literally mean the class is full and there is no waitlist, or does it mean the class is full AND the waitlist is full?

If space becomes available, do you get put in the class or in the waitlist??

Can you defer exam for medication side effects?

I recently started antidepressants, and unfortunately, I've had awful side effects. I've had a lot of the general physical effects, along with anxiety/ panic attcks (never had this issue before). I have an exam very soon, and ik i wont be able to sit in and focus on the exam.

Can I submit a self-declaration to defer an exam using medication side effects as the reason, or would this get rejected? What other options/ reasons could I put in to defer the exam that won't get rejected, as I def wont be able to write in a few days?

Any advice is deeply appreciated!

How does orientation week work - first year

So before i register because im so confused. Does this take place the first week of school or the weel before. I read online you get a group if you sign up but like wouldnt we have diffrent class scedhules and stuff. Also the website says theres a bunch of diffrent events. Are those in groups or do you go with a friend or what. Im so lost because most of these dont intrest me like a night dinner. Dinner is already at night. Plus what a bunch of people sitting in the cafetria meeting each other and eating dinner? How is that any diffrent from eating dinner any other night in the caf. Are you with your group. Im so confused can someone summarize it for me because all the information i can find is "a week to socialize and meet new people". Yeah but like when bro. We all got diffrent scedhules. I also read its not like high school where you get put into a group. Is there a group. Just want to know if this is worth before i spend 150 bucks

mental health/ medication as reason to deferr exam?

I was recently percribed anti depressants and started taking them. Unfortunately, I've been having some not-so-great side effects and have an exam in a few days, so I'm planning to defer it (awful timing, ik). In this case, can I just do a self-declaration and state medication-related side effects as the reason, or would they reject me for using that as a reason since idk if that'd count as a "short-term illness"? Similarly, would I have to show proof that it's a medication issue, idk what I'd show other than my prescription, tbh.

I deferred an exam last sem due to illness, so idk if they'll accept me deferring another exam in a row for "sickness" as the reason unless I give specifics. Any advice would really help!

major for law/med school?

Hi! so i'm about to go into grade 12 this year as a student in ottawa. I'd say my main 2 choices for unis are uottawa and carleton, and i'm stuck between the two because I haven't decided whether I wish to go into law or medicine when the time comes. Of course it would be more beneficial to have that decision made before applying to unis, but realistically, due to my lack of experience/exposure in both fields, I wish to not limit myself to one.

I am aware that law school requires no majors (as with the LSAT), whereas the MCAT does. Even then, if I choose to go to uottawa, there will be no need for me to even do said MCAT. Nonetheless, i've been pondering major/minor options for uni. I've found myself to have a great affinity for neuroscience, which would be beneficial for medicine later on as a major, but have only seen carleton have this as a major option. If I do wish to go to med school though, I'd rather stick to uottawa as they have their own medical school, meaning I would have to take health sci/biomed, or something within that domain.

Furthermore, I am conflicted with taking a minor as well. I do enjoy the humanities and it pains me to even think of going four years without being implicated with them in some way (especially if I were to apply for law school later on). If I were to take a minor, it would probably be in political science/philosophy alongside my stem-related major.

Thank you for taking the time to read all of this, honestly I'm just looking for some clarity on whether people have ever questioned this path between law/medicine at uottawa and carleton. I've heard good things about both universities and wonder what others have to say.

Carleton Parents FB group

I'm a parent of an incoming student and noticed a few parents on here. At the Summer Orientation over the weekend someone mentioned the Carleton University Parents Group on FB. I joined and for the parents on here, this may be where you want to be to satisfy all the questions and type A, OCD, anxieties you might have. Our old asses are still all on FB. Lots of photos of res rooms too and measurements people took! So just sharing the info since I didn't even think to look on FB. Make sure it's the Private group. Theres a public group that looks like it gets spammed non stop.

Is the Prescott House gym still open for use?

I’ll be living in Prescott House this year and would like to know if the gym is still open and functioning? I’ve tried finding information but that’s failed and I know last year, before Rideau’s gym opened, it was open. So I’d just like to know if it’s still available to be used or if it’s just the main fitness gym and Rideau now. Thanks!

21M, Looking for a place for the Fall & Winter Terms

Hello,

I know it is quite late to be searching for a place for the upcoming school year, but that is the position I found myself in.

I am fourth year male student, looking for a place to rent for September 1. Preferably a place with a private bedroom / bathroom, or even a unit for myself if the price is reasonable with proximity to the school.

I keep a tidy living environment, don't party much, nor invite guests to my place of residence, so I would like someone or a group that is likeminded in that regard.

Or if anyone has any advice on where / how to find a place and could give me some pointers, that would be great. Thank you.
