Repigmentation Journey/Questions about methods

Repigmentation Journey/Questions about methods

Hi all,

I made a few posts here about Vitiligo and a personal repigmentation journey that I have been undergoing. Here is a photo of my back (unfortunately I do not have a before photo). As of a few months ago say in April, my back was COMPLETELY depigmented. I started biking with no shirt on here in my city in the sun and it has rendered wonderful results for me.

I want to keep this progress up especially with Jack Inhibitors to come on the market relatively soon. I wanted to ask (and this is really for the people who have been undergoing self protocols for repigmentation) - Has anyone here utilized low pressure tanning beds with a similar light profile to the Sun to facilitate repigmentation of their vitiligo?

It is going to be winter here in my Midwest City and light exposure is going to be really hard to facilitate. I also want to engage in this type of light therapy with Jak inhibitors. Before everyone asks, I'm aware that this carries cautionary hazards regarding health. I have been interacting with folks on here who have taken their repigmentation into their own hands and subsequently bypassed the major medical systems to do so (i.e Off Label Jak inhibitors & melanotan use). I want to see what is working for people. Thank you!

Rinvoq (pipeline & off label possibilities)

Hey all,

I'm sure some of you are aware that as of very recently Rinvoq was approved for Vitiligo treatment via the EU's version of the FDA. While this is exciting, ultimately folks in Europe are probably looking at another year until they can get their hands on the medication for Vitiligo treatment. For the US, we could see FDA approval by the end of the year, and potentially get a script a few months later.

That being said, I have heard of people suffering from Vitiligo obtaining off-label prescriptions for Rinvoq from their dermatologists. I guess it's one of those things where you have to work with somebody who is on your side, who knows the landscape of Jak inhibitors and what's to come on the market. I was thinking off trying to source this myself with a dermatologist until it is available for Vitiligo treatment. Is anyone here one of those people who is on an off-label perscription? How does everyone feel about oral Jak inhibitors coming to a point of FDA approval?

Contrarian Societal Outlook on Vitiligo

I've been thinking about this "issue" for a while. There are two starkly different perspectives on vitiligo and I've even seen both manifested in life and even here in this Reddit group.

One : the Vitiligo is "cool, unique, expressive" side.

I think this outlook is with good intentions (but has drawbacks). This perspective comes on the coattails of the social conscientious movement of today (think body positivity, liberal embrace of anything, advertisements of folks with vitiligo). Because, of course, vitiligo is non life-threatening and not contagious- acceptance of this ailment makes sense. I think the drawbacks of this for me (someone who has systematic vitiligo since an early age) is I don't care for it and it is ultimately a significant hindering factor. Leading me to my next point.

Two: Vitiligo needs to be treated.

This is of course is historically how people felt. This skin ailment can detour potential romantic partners and telegraph a cautionary genetic feature (please don't say something along the lines of if someone judges you for this you shouldn't let them in your life anyway). Humans are animals too and physicality is a huge part of our existence. What do you all think? I for one, am excited for many repigmentation medical prospects that hopefully will be released over the next 5 - 10 years. Thanks

Repigmentation (self protocol)

Repigmentation, pics are one month apart.

Hi everyone, did not mean to be elusive with this post and not immediately disclosing what I am doing to try to facilitate repigmentation. I am going to try to make this as concise as possible.

Sun is obviously key. If you are in a seasonal place like myself without sun for half the year, get a home light (UVB or other). Erythema needs to occur! I'm not saying get red as possible (I have messed up here). But, your body needs to kickstart it's melanocytes again.

Two- consume as little seed oils as possible. It's going to be too hard to be in the sun if your skin cells are inundated with artificial fats. Think you're not having seed oils? Basically, you need to be cooking all of your meals and eat nothing in a package. Also, in general the diet needs to be good (this goes without saying!). Meat & whole foods

Three- patience. I am basically trying to prepare my skin for when the oral Jak inhibitors hit the market (hopefully early 2027). The more repigmentation I have, the better. It's actually a very exciting time for vitiligo. Full disclosure, I was basically fully depigmented as of a year ago before I started to facilitate repigmentation! If you only have some spots, dots, or segemental vitiligo it's going to be easier for you! Feel free to DM. Good luck!
