Feeling Isolated

You would think with RTO and being around people you wouldn’t feel so isolated. I’m really struggling with people being around me but feeling so alone.

Our office is extremely depressing. It’s so quiet you could hear a pin drop. No one interacts with each other. I’ve tried to get people to go on walks but it’s almost always rejected or goes unanswered.

I get my work done within the first 30-60 minutes and then I’m just babysitting my email inbox. I had a complete mental breakdown yesterday because it feels so isolating. I feel like on here I always hear about the chatty Cathy who won’t let others get their work done, where is she? I wish she would come over to my desk.

Is it just me or are others feeling this way too?

Edit: because I seem to be getting a lot of the same comments about being lazy and not needed. I never said I only work 30-60 minutes. I said I get my work done in the first 30-60 minutes and then babysit my email. Meaning if I get an email I might have another 30-60 minutes of tasks to do, but sometimes days can be slow and a lot of waiting. I’m in recruitment during a hiring freeze. We went from 60+ recruitments per person to 5-10. We will need my whole team when the freeze is lifted and we can recruit as before.

Insights on Low Back Pain

I’ll start by saying I had a big weekend. Beach camping. This included lots of hiking sand dunes, walks along the shoreline. Carrying my baby in a back carrier for 3+ miles while squatting and bending to look at tide pools etc. while packing up the camp Sunday I felt a big shock in my low back and felt locked like I couldn’t move. This isn’t the first time it’s ever happened but typically resolved within a few hours same day.

I have had horrible pain since Sunday morning. It’s fine when I’m laying with an ice pack or heating pad and not moving at all. As soon as I move it hurts and I get spasms that feel like shocks. The pain is staying in my low back and is not spreading anywhere else however sometimes putting weight on my right leg will trigger my back to hurt, but not all the time only when I get those shock/spasms. It kinda feels like there’s a spot on my back that’s locked up and just needs to pop but I’m way too scared to move.

Here’s what I’ve been doing:
Day 0-2 iced for 15-20 every hour or two, took Ibuprofen, moved around every couple hours, avoided picking baby up at all avoided bending over.
Day 3 everything above plus went to doctor, got prescribed meloxicam, alternated ice and heat, continue to try to move every hour or two.
Day 4 (today) took first dose of meloxicam 15mg once daily, took Tylenol on top of that, applied icy hot gel to low back, alternated heat and ice, mobilize every hour

Nothing is helping. It’s still very painful when moving. The meds and icy hot gel don’t even touch it. Only relief is when laying on a heating pad or ice pack. It’s still locking up sometimes. It’s still spasming and shocking at times.

When should I be expecting relief? Is this just my life now?! Is there anything else I should be doing?

To add doctor does not think it’s nerve/spine related and is solely a low back strain. I cannot stand straight up. I have to lean slightly forward or else it hurts. This is causing my mid back and hips to start hurting from overcompensation.

Under Oven Clean After 12 Years

If you haven’t already seen my under fridge post, go check that out! I also happened to pull out my oven today for the first time since I moved into my apartment, 12 years ago 😅 it was a very productive day! I also cleaned all my counters and reorganized my counter appliances to flow better. Unfortunately I did not take photos of that. But enjoy these before and afters of under my oven and the sides of my oven! Next up is cleaning all of my kitchen cabinet baseboards and reorganizing my kitchen cabinets. That’s a project for another weekend.

Fridge Clean After 12 Years

I just hit the 12 year anniversary of living in my apartment and I have not once moved my refrigerator to clean under it or to get all the dust out from the vent. Welp today I finally did it after talking about doing it for years! I feel so much better and like my apartment is so much cleaner. Get a load of these before and afters! Now if I can just get my ice maker to start working again (it stopped about 3 years ago).
