ICSD Budget Vote and School Board Election Today

Get out and vote! This is your opportunity for your voice to be heard. There are 4 propositions on the ballot and 4 candidates running for 3 positions.

Proposition No. 1 Proposed 2026-27 Budget - Authorized to expend $177,638,041 to meet the District's estimated expenditures during the 2026-2027 school year,

Proposition No. 2 Appropriation and Expenditure of Capital Reserve Funds - Utilize funds from the 2022 Capital Reserve Fund in the amount of $2,346,308 to purchase 1 - 70 person propane bus, 1 - 30 person propane bus, 2 - 66 person wheelchiar equipped propane busses, and interior/exterior renovations at Cayuga Heights Elementary School due to th recent flood damage.

Proposition No. 3 Establishment of a New Capital Reserve Fund - Establish a 2026 Capital Reserve fund for 5 years and fund it with $10,000,000.

Proposition No. 4 2026 Capital Project - Authorizes the construction of improvements to and reconstruction of various School District buildings and facilities at a maximum estimated cost of $43,900,000,

Candidates:

  1. Madeline Cardona - Incumbent who served a 1 year term on the school board.
  2. Sara Garner - New candidate, currently Director of Community Nursery School.
  3. Garrick Blalock - Incumbent who served the past 3 years on the school board.
  4. Jill K. Tripp - Previous school board member who was not re-elected last year after serving 3 years on the school board.

Based on the ITA website (Ithaca Teachers Association) there are 4 candidates running for ICSD school board. The four candidates are:

  • Sara Garner
  • Jill Tripp
  • Madeline Cardona (Incumbent)
  • Garrick Blalock (Incubment)
