Hi everyone,

I recently graduated with honors from a master’s program in AI, and I also have a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. I’m currently looking for an interdisciplinary PhD in the field of AI.

My main interests are logic, Neuro-Symbolic AI, AI ethics, and explainability. Given my background, I don’t think I currently have the technical depth required for a highly technical PhD in pure machine learning. I did study math and programming during my master’s, but I wouldn’t say that’s where my strongest skills are.

The issue I’m running into is that most PhD programs I find seem to be very technically oriented, often closer to engineering or applied ML. So I wanted to ask: do you know of any interesting PhD programs, anywhere in the world, that support interdisciplinary research in AI? Something in a cognitive science or similar department would be ideal.

A good example of what I have in mind would be Stanford’s Symbolic Systems program, although that is probably out of my league.

Hi everyone, I’m truly excited for the upcoming Ye’s concert that will take place in Tirana.
Despite my enthusiasm, I cannot help but being a bit worried about safety and security concerns about the event.
Even though the organizers have reassured us saying that everything has been taken into consideration, I feel that a 60k+ venue built in a rush with temporary scaffoldings (I know they are safe in principle, but they’re still built in a rush), in a place not tested for that flow of people, and given that Albania has never hosted such a big event still rises some concerns.
Is there someone here that has the same concerns? Or have you any official information about safety protocols/official emergency plans being posted? Because I didn’t find any.

I’m not saying it was right or inevitable. I think we all (or almost all of us) would have wanted MJ to be alive, and personally, I would wish health and happiness over fame and money for anyone on this planet.

But in a certain sense, Michael Jackson’s Truman Show-like existence seemed to require a sudden and premature death to crystallize his legacy. We never saw him grow old: no wrinkles, no walking stick, no fading of his singing or dancing abilities. His image was frozen in time, and his legacy benefited from it, elevating him from a music legend into an almost mythic figure whose presence endures through iconolatry and collective memory.

Ciao a tutti, sto finendo una magistrale in AI e dopo vorrei fare un dottorato in questo ambito. Tuttavia quello che interessa a me è un campo abbastanza ristretto e interdisciplinare, quindi l’unica borsa che davvero mi interesserebbe sarebbe quella del dottorato nazionale in AI presso UniPi, che credo abbia annualmente tra i 40 e i 50 posti.
Fare domanda in dottorati in informatica pura o in ingegneria non mi interesserebbe, perché sarebbero troppo tecnici.
Per chi ha avuto esperienza: secondo voi dovrei comunque provare a fare domanda in più posti possibili pur di entrare? Sapete se un dottorato nazionale dà statisticamente più chance (so che molto dipende dal curriculum e dal progetto di ricerca)?
