Incorrect password" glitch on main Android app after reinstalling due to Wi-Fi dropout (Works on Chrome/Dual App)

Hey everyone,

I’m facing a really weird issue with Instagram on my Android phone and I’m slowly losing my mind.

What happened: A few days ago, while I was uploading an IG Story, my home Wi-Fi suddenly dropped out and the app got stuck. To fix this, I decided to manually uninstall the Instagram app and download it again. I wasn't logged out by the system, I uninstalled it myself. However, after reinstalling the main app, it won't let me back in.

Current symptoms:

  • Main App: Every time I try to log in, it gives me the "Incorrect password" error. The password is 100% correct.
  • Where it WORKS: I can log in perfectly fine via the Google Chrome browser (both on mobile and PC) and also via a third-party Dual App / App Cloner on the same phone.
  • The issue: The account is NOT banned or deleted. The hardware isn't banned either. The server is just rejecting the login requests specifically coming from my main, official Instagram app after that clean reinstall.
  • Note: Using the third-party Dual App sucks because it is full of annoying ads and notifications don't work properly.

What I have already tried:

  • Cleared app cache and data.
  • Reinstalled the main app multiple times.
  • Tried logging in on mobile data (different IP address).
  • Removed all saved Instagram passwords/credentials from Google Smart Lock and Samsung Pass to ensure a completely clean install.

Current plan: I am currently doing a strict 7-day digital silence for the main app (no login attempts at all to let the server-side rate limit/block expire). My next attempt is planned for Wednesday morning (which will be around 180+ hours of total peace for the server since my last try).

My Device: Samsung Galaxy A33 5G

My questions for you:

  1. Has anyone experienced this specific "app-only incorrect password block" after manually reinstalling the app during a network error?
  2. Did waiting 7+ days actually fix it for you?
  3. Is there any way to force the main Android app to generate a completely new device/app ID so the server stops recognizing it as the "glitched" one, without factory resetting the whole phone?
  4. Is there any other solution for this? I feel like I've tried everything.
