Lack of Diversity in HoMM OE

I get the feeling I'll be downvoted for this but I'm willing to take the heat to start the conversation. I'm a pretty big fan of HoMM and have been for years, played 3-7 and go back to play 4 and 5 religiously.

How is there virtually no Diversity?

It's 2026, games like Baldur's Gate 3 exist as a paragon of what a fantasy world should look like and you would think every subsequent fantasy game would take notes. But for some reason When you look at the playable heroes almost all of them are white and the majority are male. Why? I get maybe HoM&M isn't as "high" fantasy as Baldur's Gate but there should be DEFINITELY be more variety than what there is.

Everything else about the game is pretty much what I love about HoMM but this stuck out like a sore thumb especially after finishing a BG3 playthrough.
