Help With Using Milkdrop3

My first post
I am a complete novice, possibly in the wrong forum but I desperately want to get Milkdrop 3 working. If I am in the wrong forum please point me in the right direction.
Where I am at. I have Winamp 5.9.2 with Milkdrop2 on Win 11which works brilliantly with Winamp. For example when I put an Audio CD in my desktop Winamp Loads and visualisations change within a track and when a new track starts.
I downloaded from Github Milkdrop 3 and installed DirectX 9 even though DirectX12 is alraedy on board. After extraction and clicking on Milkdrop3.exe Visualisations immediately start without any CD being inserted. If I insert a CD it opens Milkdrop 2 which is not what I want.
What do I have to do to just use the new Standalone Milkdrop 3 and how do I make the standalone open a Music CD and work with the music being played, that is like Milkdrop2 where visualisations change within a track and when a new track starts?

NB I have watched the video on how to deal with Milkdrop 3 but it seems to be aimed at competent technical users
