A camera shot months in the making

Today I thought I'd share what started as a simple time of day + weather controller, and which has grown (scope crept?) into a full environment system. This past week I finally sat down and made 14 "ambiance presets", each containing up to 209 variables (not including the post-processing volume profiles). These are rewards in my game, so I really wanted to make them worth earning!

Painstakingly tweaking them all while also setting up 4 different quality tiers for most of the effects has been a real test of commitment.

The result: A draft for my Steam page trailer which I'm working to improve bit by bit.

Thank you to those who offered suggestions and kind support on my recent posts, it's been very encouraging. I'm always open to feedback!

And thanks for watching :)

I made my own weather system

After trying several assets, rolling my own system, and then re-rolling it over, I finally landed on a weather/time of day system that feels like it has enough control for the atmospheres I want to create. I thought I'd post a little demo with a loop through the different presets I've made so far.

Let me know if you're interested in how I've set anything up, I'm happy to share my approach. And if you see anything that you think should be improved, I'd love to hear.

Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much to everyone who checked out the first first demo last month! This demo is live for this week only, so hop in soon! :)

(P.S. The tagline says multiplayer, but it supports anywhere from 1-4 players)

Just sharing a little update on my environment progress. I'm releasing my second demo next week, so I spent most of today polishing and tweaking my weather profiles and adding + optimizing reflections. I also added some little paper boats that sail around. I'm sure I'll get used to it and want to tweak it all again before long, but I'm happy with it for now. :)

Thanks for watching!
