Dolomites in early October: Worth it?

Hi,

I really want to do a road trip and hike around the Dolomites, but I can't make it happen before early October. I'd have about 11 days for the trip.

For context, I'm super into hiking and have experience with tough trails and conditions in places like Patagonia and the Andes, but this would be my first time hiking in Europe.

I know going in October means I get to dodge the crazy summer crowds, which sounds amazing. But I've also heard that a lot of the cable cars and rifugios will already be closed for the season, and honestly, that’s giving me a bit of FOMO.

What exactly would I be missing out on by not having the rifugios and lifts open? Does it just mean I have to hike further up from the base, or does it completely rule out certain iconic trails and experiences? Would love to know if it's still worth going in October or if I should hold off for another year. Thanks!
