Dolomites honeymoon

Hi all! I know this is last minute but I cancelled my honeymoon for June (was domestic) due to our soul dog getting an unexpected bad health prognosis. He sadly passed and after 3 months of grieving we’ve decided we want to take the honeymoon this fall instead of waiting until our one year anniversary. It’s our first international trip for both of us and safety is huge for me. Also neither of us speak Italian so hoping that we can get by though I’ll start trying to learn the language if we get this booked. We’re not much into cities … we both actually hate large cities. We really want to focus on long or short day hikes (I’m fine with a hotel or Refugio but don’t want to tent camp), seeing pretty views and epic landscapes, and would like a nice meal here and there. I’m flexible on timing but would like to do 7-10 days sometime between Sept - Oct unless there’s a better time. I know I’m late to the game it might not be possible but I’m going to try! Any recs are appreciated! Also would a travel agent be worth it ?

Thank you for your kindness and help

1st to 3rd June

Hello everyone, i know for experienced guys these questions might sound repetitive but thank you for appreciating beginners and always giving them the right advice, this space is helping me a lot

I’ll be straight forward, my itinerary is 1st to 3rd June with a rental car (2nd June is a holiday i have no idea if that will affect my trip or not)

1st june : driving from milan 3am

Cascate nardis sunrise hike Val di funes Base ourselves in Dobbiaco

Do an easy sunset lake (toblacher see or durrensee or lake braies 20min drive) and rest 🔴Q1(is there a better choice)

2nd June Cadini di misurina Tre cime 🔴Q2(which one to do first for a better experience and is 5am a good start)

Both have same parking lot which needs to be booked online in advance, in this itinerary

I don’t mind 24 hours of parking

Lake misurina sunset

Rest

3rd June Check out very early 1 hour stop at lake braies (it’s on our way)

arrive alpe di suisi before they close the road 9am Alpe di suisi first then seceda for sunset 🔴Q3: (is this the right pattern for those two places) Do i need to take a cable car at all if i arrive before 9am?

Leave back to Bolzano (end)

🔴Q4: Both tre cime and cadini have same parking lot which needs to be booked online in advance, in this itinerary is there any other parking or other thing that needs to be booked online in advance

🔴⭐️Q5: If this was your itinerary and you have 2 things to change/remove/add based on your experience what would that be?

🔴Q6: what are the tolls that i need to be aware of and will this itinerary mandate taking any cable cars? As long as i can park at the nearest point and hike 2-3 hours

Question August Weather

Hey, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the weather between 21 August and 3 September in the Dolomites. I’m planning to hike part of the Alta Via 2 at the end of August, and I really need good conditions for the via ferratas. Any insights on typical weather or how reliable it is during that period would be really helpful.

Dolomites Itinerary Check + Proposal Spot Advice (Tre Cime / Seceda?)

Hello everyone,

My girlfriend, a couple of friends, and I are going on a trip to the Dolomites from 4th–7th June. We’re based in Munich and renting a car for the trip. I’ve put together the following itinerary and would love some feedback on whether it looks realistic or if you’d recommend any changes.

Day 1

Leave Munich in the morning, visit Lago di Braies and Lago di Dobbiaco, have dinner in San Candido, and then head to our Airbnb in Candide for the night. I intentionally kept Day 1 lighter since we’ll be hiking quite a lot over the next few days.

Day 2

Early morning start for Tre Cime di Lavaredo and do the full circular hike. Afterwards, relax at Lago di Misurina, then head to Cortina d’Ampezzo for dinner before returning to Candide for the night. If we’re too tired or running late, we’ll skip Cortina and head straight back after Misurina.

Day 3

Leave for Seceda in the morning. We plan to take the cable car partway and then hike to the summit. Afterwards, we’ll head to Bolzano for our final night.

Day 4

Leave Bolzano, visit Val di Funes, do the Adolf Munkel Trail, and then drive back to Munich in the evening.

Does this itinerary sound reasonable? Would you suggest any modifications or changes?

I also need some advice on something special: I’m planning to propose to my girlfriend during this trip.

My ideal option would be Day 2 during the Tre Cime hike (assuming the weather is good), but I’m worried that the most scenic spots might be crowded and we won’t really get the privacy I’m hoping for. My second option would be Lago di Misurina, though I’m not fully convinced about it.

If Day 2 doesn’t work out, the obvious backup would be Seceda on Day 3, but I imagine the same crowd/privacy issue might come up there as well.

I’d prefer not to do it on Day 1 or Day 4, since Day 1 feels too early into the trip and Day 4 feels a bit too late.

For anyone familiar with the Dolomites: where and when would you do it in this situation? Any tips, recommendations, or hidden spots with a bit more privacy?

Thank you so much!

Best Base for Dolomites June 17-24? Ortisei, Santa Cristina, Selva

First post! Will be in Dolomites with a new girlfriend in late June. Looking to find the best of beauty, value, and fun.

It sounds like Ortisei is the nicest. Does it still feel youthful and approachable? Nice is great, but we're not really fancy. Santa Cristina sounds more laid back, but is it a clear downgrade in beauty and charm? Price is also nice to keep down as well, but I'm very willing to spend if the return is high. Would be nice to be around other younger people as well.

Appreciate the help.

Current Dolomites condition - Suggestions required

Planning a 10-day Dolomites in 22nd-31st May 2026 and wanted to check current conditions/openings from people already there this season.

Itinerary:

Base 1: Cortina d’Ampezzo (3 nights)

Freccia nel Cielo / Tofana cable car

Tre Cime di Lavaredo loop + Cadini viewpoint

Lago di Misurina

Lago di Braies

Lago di Dobbiaco

Base 2: Ortisei / Val Gardena (4 nights)

Passo Falzarego + Lagazuoi cable car

Seceda cable car + ridge walk

Alpe di Siusi gondola

Sella Ronda drive

Passo Giau sunset drive

Questions:

Are all these roads/cable cars usually fully open by 22-31st May this year?

Any current snow issues on Seceda, Tre Cime loop, Cadini trail, or Lagazuoi?

Is Tre Cime toll road already open daily?

Any places in this itinerary that are currently underwhelming due to construction, mud, snow, or low visibility?

Is Ortisei a better base than Selva for this itinerary?

Any recent drone restrictions or D-Flight issues around Alpe di Siusi / Cadini / Giau?

Would appreciate recent on-ground updates from anyone who visited in the last 1–2 weeks.

Dolomites trip Late May or Early June?

Hi everyone. I have been researching aorund the weather for late may/early june for my dolomites trip. Some say that the weather will be unpredictable, some say it would be pleasant. I've also looked at forecasts but different websites tell a different story.

I am planning to go there either on 28th May to 3rd June or from 4th June to 10th June. Are these dates very similar in terms weather expectations? Or will the latter be a little bit better?

Appreciate your help. TIA!

Where to stay in the Dolomites for honeymoon? (June 16–19, road trip)

Hey everyone!
My wife and I will be in the Dolomites for our honeymoon and we’re trying to figure out the best place to stay for June 16–19 (3 nights).
We’ll have a rental car, so parking is a must. We’re looking for something cozy/romantic (hotel, B&B, chalet, apartment — anything works), ideally with mountain views.
We’re booking a bit late, so it seems like a lot of places are already sold out — any tips would be super appreciated!
We want a good base for day trips and hiking around spots like:
Val Gardena (Ortisei / Selva)
Alpe di Siusi
Seceda
Tre Cime di Lavaredo
Lago di Braies
Passo Sella / Passo Gardena
We’re open to staying in Val Gardena, Cortina, San Candido, Alta Badia, etc. Mainly trying to avoid spending half the trip driving back and forth.
Any recommendations for areas or specific places you loved?
Also, are there any towns that are a nightmare for parking/traffic in mid-June?
Thanks a lot! 🙏😊

Visiting Dolomites Advice - Parking

Hi all - I am visiting the Dolomites next week and I am a little confused on the parking situation. For Lago di Braises, it says online we do not need to reserve parking since we are going in May, I was interested in doing so regardless to be sure we get a spot but I cannot find anywhere to do so, we plan on arriving early so will we be okay?

We then plan on driving to do the hike in Cadini di Misurina where it does seem we need to pay for parking in advance. Thoughts on doing this area after the Lake in the morning?

Thanks in advance
