Should I include Chamonix, or save it for another trip? 21-day France & Italy itinerary?
Hey everyone!
I'm planning a 21-day trip to France and Italy in September and I'm debating whether I should squeeze Chamonix into the itinerary or save it for another trip.
My rough itinerary is currently:
🇫🇷 Paris — 4 days
🧗 Fontainebleau — 3 days (Font is closed so I might boulder in yvelines & essonne instead)
🏔️ Chamonix — 2–3 days?
🇮🇹 Dolomites — 5 days
🎨 Florence — 2 days
🏛️ Rome — 3–4 days
My dilemma is that Chamonix → Dolomites is quite a big travel transition, and I'm wondering whether 2–3 days in Chamonix is actually worth the time, or whether I should spend those days elsewhere in Italy.
For people who've been to both:
Would you do Chamonix + Dolomites in the same 21-day trip, or save Chamonix for a future trip and spend more time in Italy?
Also if I skip Chamonix, where would be the best before heading to the Dolomites? Verona, Innsbruck or Bologna?
Thanks!!
