italy transport strike affecting travel plans? (9/25)

hi everyone!

This is semi-Dolomites related as I will be ending my stay in Venice. However, I have been seeing on social media that there is a strike scheduled for September 25, which is the day that I fly back to the states.

My partner and I are debating shortening our trip by a day to avoid the strike. Does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations?

Obviously, I would like to keep the original itinerary, but do not want to end up missing my flight as well. Would rather play it safe than risk it.

Traveling to Dolomites September 18-24

Hi,

I am traveling to Italy for the first time this September.

We will be starting in Umbria (flying in september 10 to Rome) and will be there for a week or so because we are there for a wedding and extended family festivities.

We plan to leave Umbria currently on the 17th morning and are staying in Malchisne by Lake Garda for the 17th night.

From the 18th day to 24th day we plan to be in the Dolomites. Currently my plan is to stay in Ortesei from the 18th to 21st and then travel to Cortina from 21-24. We plan to have a rental car the entire time.

I would love feedback on the entire plan so far even prior to the Dolomites if you think somewhere else would be worth stopping but my biggest thing that I’m trying to figure out is what sites I should see in the dolomites.

My current plan is to see Seceda in Ortesei and Alpe de Suisi, I think I can fit one more landmark in while in Ortesei depending when I check in/check out from the hotel. I currently have hotel reservations Alpenheim Charming. I don’t know if these are the main sites I should prioritize and am open to recommendations.

I then plan to drive to Cortina and plan on seeing both lakes (Sorapis and Braies)- is it worth to see it both? What other places should I see?

I am open to a max 6 hour hike. I am an avid hiker but I just want to plan the Dolomites right. I would like to avoid crowds as much as I can but I also wanna see views that will give me the soul crushing feeling of “this big beautiful world”.

So I’m looking for help on planning what to do in the dolomites. I’d love to know anyone’s recommend recommendations and feedback on what I have now!
