School for neurodiverse kids
Hi chch people. What school did you go to?
Now that's out of the way, what high schools are you sending your neurodiverse kids to? We live in Central Otago currently (chch born & bred) but the high school here is terrible for my daughter with adhd. She is in year 8 now but spent most of last year doing home school because the high school (year 7-13) is extremely overstimulating. She has been going to school this year, as some changes were made, but we are again getting into a situation where she is having meltdowns in the morning due to the anxiety of being in a loud, frenetic environment all day. Getting changes happening at school is HARD WORK.
I'm considering Hagley College or applying to Ao Tawhiti for her. I would love to hear anyone's thoughts, good and bad, on either option.
