Advice regarding the control of YouTube on a fire TV with Alexa
I have an insignia fire TV that was purchased about five years ago, that I control with an Alexa echo. Using the old Alexa protocol, I would be able to tell. Tell the echo to launch you too, and the TV would be turned on, and I would be brought to a user selection screen of YouTube. At this point, before proceeding, I would need to tell the echo to launch YouTube at this point, I would say select, in order to select my user profile, and then go into two. For the most part, I could navigate you to from here. With the addition of AI to YouTube, this has been problematic to some degree, as I often have to manually back out of videos in order to do a search. Doing a search while still in a video often just searches the AI.
I briefly tried Alexa, and some aspects were better relative to the original, and some worse. With the plus, I need to issue a separate command to turn on the TV before I can go into YouTube. Once at YouTube, I'm not sure if I have to do this twice, or if it just takes me in. The voice recognition went in YouTube seems to be better, at least. I can also customize how many videos I want skipped at a time, if I want to scroll to the right or left. This seems to revert back to a default periodically, so it's actually not much use.
Right now, it seems that my choices are either using the original or the plus versions of the echo software. I've wondered if things might improve if I get a newer, smart TV, possibly manufactured by a different company. Does anyone have any experience with any of this? Does anybody have any recommendations or comments?
