Wrapping stones

I recently came across a video about these carved stones (https://youtu.be/J0nCczuTOAM). To me they immediately look as if carved for the purpose of ornamentally wrapping them with rope. Like other ornamental knots they would look puzzling, hiding the secret of how it can be done. Whoever made them (or is bearing them) would have probably gained some status among those who how didn‘t know how to work rope.

In this sense they really remind me of the roman dodecahedron (r/romandodecahedron). At least the „knobs“ could serve a similar purpose. What if they also were originally decorated with rope using mesmerizing ornamental knots? (Would give no explanation for the differently sized holes though)

Would those stones or the dodecahedron inspire a knot enthusiast?

Drought coping of nuclear power pants with river cooling

With the current drought in Europe I see news about nuclear power plants beeing shut down, because their river does not provide enoigh water anymore. Eg news of today about romanian power plant becaue danube is running dry (I‘ll try to add the link in an edit later: edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews/s/m6YybWSag2).

I guess of course that they shut down before there is no water. In some countries I assume there are rules in place which trigger much earlier action because the river water would rise too much in temperature, threatening local water wild life.

But given the case that a river runs completely dry (or the water inflow gets heavily clogged), how can these power plants stay safe? As I understand it, even if the reactor is shut down, there is still a need for cooling the used rods which are in separate water tanks. How cpuld they cope with such a situation?

Distribution (maybe survivor bias?)

Just a theory: let‘s assume the dodecahedra were originally more widely distributed through europe. Lets say in the regions that got occupied by the romans they found or looted them, but they were of no cultural or practical value to them, so they melted them down to produce their own „more important“ bronce objects.

This could lead to the situation today whee we find them only outside the roman borders.

What are your thoughts ?
