an update from my previous post, we have since received our fish results from the amnio with the more extensive results still pending. however, the confirmation through fish is enough for us to move forward with tfmr. thank you all for your help, advice, and experience in the nipt community. it has been very beneficial to learn that we were not alone though in the real world it sure feels that way.

moving forward, i will tfmr via d&e. any experience in this procedure would be useful. i’m nervous for the cervical dilation as i understand it’s quite awful. my hospital will only provide twilight sedation which also makes me very nervous. i had a d&c many years ago, and im sure this will be much worse as i am much farther along. any and all experience is helpful.

not sure the reason for posting, other than no one in the real world seems to understand the relentless emotions that come of this type of testing and situation. tested at 11 weeks for nipt, got results about a week later. high risk t21, 26 years old first time pregnant. fetal fraction was about 7%, ppv about 85%. absolute devastation. it’s been a gruesome and borderline cruel wait to get to the amnio. a few more days to go. not entirely hopeful for negative results, doing my best to keep a sliver of hope, but more so want to either be done or not be done. tfmr if positive. my thought process will jump procedure to procedure anxiety before i can cope properly with whatever cards dealt. just having a rough go of it all. thank you to those of you who have shared similar stories, either ending well or not it has been educational and strangely beneficial to hear about similar women in the same shoes. will share an update when able in the following days/weeks. best.
