Authenticity question
I am new to this reddit sub and have been following it with interest.
Please could someone explain why the cheap factory produced and painted Ashton Drake dolls are accepted as authentic whereas Babeside or other suppliers on Amazon are not.
A can understand the argument that artists that fully sculpt should be paid for their work. But technology has moved on, 3D scanners are widely available (All dental surgery’s now have them for dental work) Bountiful babies are also accepted on this website – their doll kits are made using 3D scans of real babies.
Many of the companies producing “fake” reborns also say that they make 3D scans/sculpts of real babies. Who decides which are “authentic” or fake. How does a company prove it fully creates the sculpts. I don’t personally see much resemblance between Babeside sculpts and those of artists such as Bonnie Brown yet this community take it as a given that they rip artists off.
