Japanese living room: where do we put our couch and tv? 🇯🇵
We are moving to a new city in Japan and pictured is our new company apartment so we haven’t seen it yet in person (We will get dimensions from our company at some point before we leave.) but are trying to figure out before we get there the layout possibilities because we’ll send a custom sectional couch (be able to pick and choose all the sections of it and shape) before we go.
We spend the majority of time in our current living room as a family with our two kids under the age of 2. The living room set up that we have now is open, like the picture above, and allows me to do stuff in the kitchen while I watch the kids safely run around when I’m solo. So it was important for us to find that again in our new space and we did, but the layout is a bit funky when it comes to placing the couch and tv. We’d love your help.

Note: we definitely want the tv against a wall/flat since we have two kids and the couch can be floating vs having it the other way around.
1️⃣ Option 1: tv against the kitchen counter
Seems like our best bet I just don’t know how high the tv will peak above the kitchen countertop and how bad it will look or the reflection from the window to the tv. But maybe with a low tv stand it won’t be so bad?
2️⃣ Option 2: against the built in desk
There is this built in desk under the window and maybe we can use it as a tv stand? Or put two tv stands in front of it? Tv may be awkwardly blocking the window.
3️⃣ Option 3: against playroom (unknown dimensions)
I wish we knew how my wall we were working with here because the camera angle may be making it look like a decent amount of wall when actually it’s a sliver.
