Road to Hana plan - dumb idea?

Hi all. My wife and I are on our honeymoon and she’d love to see the black sand beach at Waiʻānapanapa. Sadly, due to our poor planning I could only get a 7 am Friday reservation, and we’re staying in Wailea. Our thought was to get up very very early and drive the road to Hana without stopping - get to Hana and the beach to spend some time there, and then drive the Road to (from?) Hana back and make our desired stops on the return trip. Seems to make sense to me but im not sure if there’s logistical issues I’d be missing.

We cannot rent a cabin in Hana overnight at this time.
