In August I will be a junior and I have no one to really ask this question but is it okay if I write my college essay about my moms passing when I was 14? For about a year after her death my mental health declined and took a toll on my academics which resulted in my sort of poor GPA today and I feel like without including that event of my life, a piece of my application will be missing. I don’t know if I should though because some other people online suggested to avoid death of family members. Also, are there any huge scholarships I can apply to? My grandparents don’t have a lot of money for me for college so I’m also trying to currently get a job somewhere.
