A very hot Saturday at [Six Flags Over Texas]
Decided to go up to Six Flags Over Texas to check out the park for the first time. Was really surprised at how nice the landscaping and greenery was all over the park! Lots of sections of the park reminded me of Knotts style theming levels. Lots of surprises in the coaster lineup too.
Tormenta -
Me: 7/10 - Maybe my second favorite dive coaster behind Emperor. I just hate the dives with a brake run, really messes with the pacing. That drop is world class though.
Husband: 3/10 - Another coaster where my husband told me if it broke down on the lift hill he would never ride another coaster again in his life. I was like come on dude this one has a little funicular you'll be okay calm down.
Texas Giant -
Me: 10/10 - Top tier RMC. Second behind only Twisted Colossus for me. Loved the super long layout and flowing fun hills. Paced intensely well, some of RMC's best work ever.
Husband: 9/10 - Warned him that some people called this "the boring RMC" and he's like well that probably means I'll love it. He was right, he asked why they all couldn't be this good.
Mr. Freeze -
Me: 10/10 - So intense. Tiny seats/cars felt like you were sitting in a tiny grade schooler chair flying around doing some of the most intense elements forward and backward. Vertical boost was so good, wish I could have experienced it backwards.
Husband: -5/10 - I told him right before the launch that sometimes the boost doesn't it and it valleys between elements and he didn't talk to me for the rest of the night. Hated the hangtime in the tophat, felt like he was literally about to die. So funny.
Aquaman -
Me: 8/10 - Very perilous plunge-ish? Back in the day I rode Perilous Plunge 5 times then went to play DDR 3rd Korean Mix at the Kingdom of the Dinosaurs arcade and short circuited the dance pad. Oops.
Husband: 8/10 - Thought the turntable was a smart idea, loved the launches, liked the small amount of airtime and how the middle row avoided most of the splash.
Superman Tower of Power -
Me: 0/10 - Has anyone seen the amount of crickets that swarm this area? When the compressed air is expelled a hundred crickets ran out from the center of the tower and I was freaking the fk out.
Husband: 6/10 - He used crickets for bait when fishing as a kid so he was not affected by cricketgeddon.
Runaway Mountain -
Me: 6/10 - I was like babe was that Hurricane from Beach Boardwalk? I feel like that was Hurricane from Beach Boardwalk.
Husband: 5/10 - Loved the ride. Didn't know what Hurricane was and did not care.
Titan -
Me: 6/10 - That new helix really fks up the pacing. Also it was way more rattly than Goliath.
Husband: 4/10 - (In the mid-course) "I think I just had a stroke. Did your vision start to black out? I think I'm dying."
Pretty great trip overall. Had Fastlane all day so we got to just walk on everything. Nothing really went down, great operations on everything. I had to teach one bartender how to make a Double Vodka Soda (ya you fill that metal thing with vodka eight times, then fill the rest of soda water). Driving back to Austin we decided to go an hour out of our way to visit the Buc-ee's in Ennis, TX because I thought the town had a really funny name. Excited to go again when it's less hot, definitely had some Magic Mountain vibes.
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift [Universal Hollywood] has been delayed to "end of the year"
foxla.comTR: Long weekend at [Kemah Boardwalk] and [Galveston Pleasure Pier]
Decided at the last moment to head down to Kemah for the weekend and left Friday morning. Forecast said the rain had passed and we were all clear but unfortunately most of Saturday and today had torrential storms and flood warnings.
Boardwalk Bullet ended up being closed all weekend, but it was fun to look at I guess? First drop really looked crazy, and I couldn't believe how much track was fit into such a compact space. Makes me want to do something like that as my next NL2 project. Kemah Boardwalk fireworks were nice, people were trashy but friendly, bars around the boardwalk were pretty much the same as the people. Watched a lot of the world cup, probably saw more soccer over the last three days than I have combined in my entire life.
Decided to head down to Galveston on Saturday to try and avoid the rain and hopefully get at least one new coaster in. Ended up seeing the Carnival ship parked that had the Spike coaster on it!
Had some drinks on that side of the island before realizing the park was on the other side so we walked across to go check it out. Turns out you need a wristband to even walk around the pier so we grabbed a couple and after confirming Iron Shark was open we grabbed a couple tickets for that. In the 3 minutes between the ticket booth and getting to the ride entrance it had closed which was hilarious. After a very bad dinner at Bubba Gump's we went over to hang out at Robert Laffite's bar for a while. In between drinks I stepped outside to see if Iron Shark was working and at around 8pm it started up, so we did some shots and ran back over where we were thankfully able to get our one ride in.
Iron Shark - Had our fingers crossed during the lift that we were not going to end up on the news that night and thankfully it crested the top and completed the circuit! Husband said if we got stuck he would never ride a coaster ever again so I guess I was thankful for that.
Really fun little coaster, one of the better pier ones I've been on. Really pretty views even though the gulf of america is all garbage water. Really comfortable lapbars, I don't know why anyone that had to be lowered down via a crane was complaining, I would have just napped until it was time to get off.
Me- 7/10
Husband- 4/10 (Hates vertical lifts)
Back in Kemah there was no sign of life on Bullet Saturday night or Sunday morning so we decided to get back early cause the cat probably missed us. Stopped by some Buc-ee's on the way back, got some more location specific shirts to cut the sleeves off of, got home early and called it a day.
Fun trip but it's gonna be real hard to find a reason to make it back down there for Bullet. The three different bands playing Margaritaville we saw just aren't a big enough draw for a second trip.
Fan-made Concept Art for Orlando's Hollywood Drift Coaster
Made my own version of what I think the finished Hollywood Drift could look like next year at USO. I've been working on it for a while so it's already a bit off of what we've seen been installed but it was still fun imagining what it could possibly be like.

youtu.beTrip Report for [Fiesta Texas], Saturday May 30th (FT92)
Drove down to the gross city of San Antonio for a long weekend to hang out at Fiesta Texas and check out the FT92 announcement that the park has been teasing for a while. Ended up having a really awesome day and meeting a bunch of cool new TX enthusiast friends.
Quick reviews of everything we rode:
Batman -
Me - 7/10, Husband - 0/10
He didn't enjoy the fact that we spend the entire ride upside down but it gave me some serious Green Lantern vibes so I was down.
Wonder Woman -
Me - 6/10, Husband - 8/10
I was shocked at how much rougher (and slightly slower) it was than Railblazer. I haven't been on RB since 2024, but it can't possibly have gotten as bad as this. The second half specifically was just so bumpy.
Dr. Diabolical -
Me - 7/10, Husband - 7/10
Just a nice little dive with a fine layout. This has to be one of the last perfectly smooth B&M's, right?
Iron Rattler -
Me - 9/10, Husband - 8/10
Such great trains. And the cliff wall section hit so much harder than I remember when I rode in 2023.
Superman -
Me - 8/10, Husband - 6/10
"Why does it have to go upside down so much" said the man whose favorite norcal ride was Medusa 🤔
Poltergeist -
Me - 7/10, Husband - 7/10
I grayed out hard in the first three inversions, in like, the bad way.
Pirate Shooting Dark Ride -
Me - 8/10, Husband - 8/10
"You would punch someone in the face so quick if someone was doing that to you" -My husband as I shot the loud ass blaster at the back of the head of the person in front of me while loading.
FT92 show -
Thought we went into the wrong theater when they opened with the salute to movies. I'm never going to a fright fest again so that was wasted time, I got overly excited during one part of the announcement video when I thought the swing launch was a switch track. Still looks like an amazing ride, Vekoma is going to kill it next year between that and Thrill Glider.
Spurs Game 7 -
Getting dinner near the park and driving home after the game had finished was maybe top 3 mistakes of my life. Took two hours to get from the freeway offramp to our hotel by the Riverwalk due to downtown insanity. Was a memorable experience being in the middle of all of it though, and the vibes were all good unlike when SF won anything and we just set everything on fire.
Buc-ee's -
Place has cleaner toilets than my house it was crazy.
