Maximum Family Benefits (FMB) Social Security and disabled adult child (DAC)
I have a question . Just this week my 30 something year old son ( disabled ) and I both recieved letters from SS . I was getting the “spousal benefits” off my husbands record for about 2 years.I think it called “topping off” my lower wage earner SS benefits .
Out of know where it seems my son got switched to receiving a payout as a DAC ( disabled adult child) on my husband’s record . He is losing his SSDI and gaining money off my husband’s SS account .
I, at the same time, am losing money as a lower wage spouse off my husbands account . They have cancelled my spousal benefits,it seems .It seems like all the benefits are going to my son. I am losing hundreds of dollars monthly and my son is gaining hundreds monthly . I will appeal , but just wondering if this has happened to anyone else ? Doesn’t seem fair or equal at all !
