The Situation: • I initially developed a red, burning, and itchy rash in both armpits, which then spread to my face (red/flushing) and scrotum.
• I completed a telehealth visit and was prescribed a Medrol Dosepak and Nystatin cream. Then given fluconazole and prednisone. Now I’ve been given a steroid fungal combo cream.
• The oral steroid seemed to temporarily clear my face for about a day, but then the rash aggressively exploded. My face is now extremely patchy and scaly, and the plaques in my armpits and groin are beefy red, spreading, and burning intensely.
• I completed a follow-up telehealth visit today. The provider stated it looks like a severe tinea/fungal infection that was heavily exacerbated by the oral steroids. She switched my topical to Ketoconazole 2% and advised that I need an in-person evaluation for systemic oral antifungals.
Since then I’ve gone to a dermatologist and told me it can be yeast infection or psoriasis but biopsy is only on the second of June to be sure. I just wanted to see anyone can give some type of input on what they think it could be as it is being worst everyday and pretty unbearable.
