Need help understanding ZIP files. Downloading and opening

I need a simplified understanding and easy instructions of how to download and then open zip files that are already in my synology file folder. I uploaded them when transferring away from my other cloud services and now I realize I'm not easily seeing a way to open the files once it is downloaded. When I download the folders, the folder file name is "Unconfirmed 9283482.crdownload" and I'm unable to open it and read the files. However, when I double click the file in the file folder, I can view the files. I hope I didn't permanently damage those files?

In Need of Someone to Dumb Down and Explain to Me SSD Cache

I have a Synology 4-Bay DS925+ and currently only two Seagate Ironwolf 12TB hard drives installed. I'm close to maxing out space (I think) and so I purchased two more of the same.

My issue is that the photos app is extremely slow for loading thumbnails. I do have tons of photos and videos at least 8TB, maybe more. This is just a personal collection so not for work. I haven't done it yet but I wanted the first two that are currently installed to be redundant of the other. I saw the instructions on how to make that happen, I just haven't done it yet.

I read that creating a SSD Cache will possibly help me.

Here are my questions:

  1. Is the SSD Cache related the hard drive device? I don't see SSD listed in the description of my Seagate Ironwolf so is that where I should start?

  2. If the first is not true, and I can use the existing HD to create the SSD cache, should I be doing it on a NEW hard drive with no files on it or will it not delete my existing files on existing drive?

  3. Reading the instructions, I see the conversions and I see that you can reserve some space on your drive to mount to SSD Cache but also an option is to make an entire drive an SSD Cache? I don't understand this but really I just want to know what are the cons of doing the entire drive? I mostly have photos/videos. Only about 1TB is probably files.

TIA
