I’ve had my braces off for maybe 6 months give or take, since then I’ve maintained excellent oral hygiene (although I will admit it was poor while I had the braces on). I haven’t noticed any significant shrinking in my gums since then.

Image is with my retainer in which may obscure view of the gums. The reflection from my camera flash obscures the grooves that formed in some of the tissue while my gums grew against the braces, most notably inbetween my incisors. My gums also appear sometimes pale in color further away from the teeth themselves especially in the mornings, with more red inflamed tissue directly around the teeth.
