🇰🇷 GKS-U 2027 Profile Review – Indian Applicant | 82.2% | Business Administration | Sun Moon University
Hi everyone ! I’m an Indian student planning to apply for GKS-U 2027, and I would really appreciate an honest assessment of my profile from people who have experience with GKS or Korean university admissions.
I’ve been researching and preparing my application for the past few months, and I’m now at the stage where I want other people to point out my strengths, weaknesses, and anything I should improve before submitting.
📚 Academic background
•Indian applicant
•Completed Class 12 in Commerce
•82.4% in my best five subjects
•Main subjects included English, Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics
•under top 10% of my classmates
I’m interested in studying Business Administration for my bachelor's degree.
I know my percentage isn't extremely high compared with some GKS applicants, so I would especially like to know how competitive my academics are for GKS-U.
👩🏻💼 Leadership / extracurricular background
During school I held leadership positions:
•Vice House Captain in Class 11
•House Captain in Class 12
I also have school certificates/achievements that I am organizing for my application. I can also obtain a recommendation letter from my teacher/principal.
I would like to know whether these leadership experiences are meaningful for GKS or whether I should focus more on other aspects of my application.
🇰🇷 Korean language preparation
I have already started learning Korean before applying, rather than waiting until I reach Korea.
I started learning Hangul and beginner Korean independently through YouTube, especially the GO! Billy Korean beginner lessons. I’ve also used free language-learning apps such as Duolingo for vocabulary and practice.
At this point:
I can read and write a good amount of Hangul.
I know basic vocabulary and sentence structures.
I can have very basic everyday conversations.
I can introduce myself, ask/answer simple questions, talk about basic needs, food, days, etc.
I’m still a beginner, so I definitely don't consider myself fluent.
I grew up using Assamese, Hindi and English, so I'm already accustomed to switching between multiple languages. I feel this has helped me become comfortable with learning different sounds, structures and ways of expressing things.
My plan is to continue Korean seriously after entering university. During my first year, I want to work toward TOPIK Level 3 or higher, using structured classes, daily vocabulary and grammar practice, listening, speaking practice, and conversations with Korean students rather than relying only on textbooks.
My longer-term goal is to become comfortable enough with Korean to use it in academic and business-related situations, not just everyday conversation.
📝 GKS application preparation
I have already started preparing my application materials.
Personal Statement:
✅ Completed a full draft / working on the final version.
Study Plan:
✅ Currently developing it.
For my study plan, I’m specifically trying to explain:
How I will improve my Korean, rather than simply saying that I will learn Korean.
Why the specific Business Administration subjects I want to study matter to my career goals.
What I will actually do with what I learn through courses, projects, teamwork, presentations, case studies, etc.
How I will develop an international/global business perspective.
How I will eventually apply those skills to my career in Korea.
I’ve also researched my intended university's Business Administration department, educational goals and competency model so that my study plan is connected to the actual program rather than making generic statements about the university.
🏫 University choice
At the moment, my main choice is:
Sun Moon University – Department of Business Administration
I chose Business Administration because I'm particularly interested in areas such as:
•Marketing
•Human Resource Management
•Organizational Behaviour
•Management
•Consumer/business-related topics
•International/global business
•Communication and teamwork
•Practical/experiential business learning
🌏 Career goal
My long-term goal is to build my career in South Korea, particularly in the international business sector.
I want to work in an environment where Korean and international companies/markets interact.
I don't currently plan to return to India immediately after graduation. My goal is to establish myself professionally in Korea and work in the international sector there.
At the same time, I would like to maintain a professional connection between India and Korea and use my understanding of both cultures in my future career.
📄 Documents / preparation
I'm currently organizing my documents and application materials.
I have been researching things such as:
GKS-U requirements
University selection
Personal Statement
Study Plan
Recommendation letter

I don't have my passport yet because I will turn 18 in October and plan to apply for it around then.
🎯 My overall goal
My main goal isn't simply “I want to go to Korea.”
I want to use the scholarship to study Business Administration, become proficient in Korean, develop international business and communication skills, gain practical experience through university activities, and eventually build a career in Korea's international business environment.
I’ve been working on this seriously and have already started Korean and my GKS documents before the application period.
🙏 What I would really appreciate from you
Could people with GKS experience, current scholars, former applicants, or people familiar with Korean university admissions please rate my profile honestly?
If possible, I'd appreciate ratings/comments on:
Academic profile: /10
Leadership/extracurriculars: /10
Korean preparation: /10
Personal Statement: /10
Study Plan: /10
University choice (Sun Moon – Business Administration): /10
Overall GKS-U 2027 competitiveness: /10
And most importantly:
1.What are my biggest weaknesses?
2.What should I improve before submitting?
3.Is choosing Sun Moon University + Business 4.Administration a sensible choice for my profile?
5.Does my Korean preparation look meaningful even though I'm currently only a beginner?
6.Does my study plan sound sufficiently specific and career-focused?
7.Am I missing anything important that a GKS applicant should prepare?
8.If you were reviewing my application, what would make you reject it?
Please be honest rather than just encouraging me. I would rather know my weaknesses now and fix them before applying.
Thank you! 🇰🇷❤️
