I recently had a discussion with a belly dancer about golden era dancers and how multifaceted their training was. You can see Naima here being well trained in vocals, as well as ballet, jazz, tap, and different folkloric dances like debke. The dancer I talked to was in disbelief and actually refuted the idea of belly dancers even having to cross train in such opposite styles like ballet. But it’s true, and you can see it in this video! Samia Gamal famously incorporated veil work into her dancing because of a ballet teacher using a silk scarf to assist her in port de bras, which is the technique of arms within ballet.

I’m getting hip surgery soon, which means no teaching for me until March. I was brainstorming ways to make some cash while in recovery, and I thought up a social media crash course for dancers/belly dancers (depending on how popular the class becomes)

I really wish I had some basic algorithm knowledge and internet safety skills when I started posting. Not to get viral or popular, but to know how to optimize content and reach a wider audience. And how to protect myself from creeps, haters, etc

Would anyone be interested in a 4 session online course? And if so, any ideas outside of these topics are appreciated if you haven’t seen them covered before:
1-algorithm basics
2-content optimization (when and how to post)
3-how to manage and maintain growth (followers, views, etc)
4-internet safety 101, including how to prevent deepfakes or AI reuse, especially for dancers

I might take this down after it’s posted just to not make me a target for it. I’ve been seeing a lot of videos where people get a dance routine from an actual dancer and just post it on their own body from a picture. Or a video where people use AI to make dancers do other things. I know permissions and roadblocks still exist but I also know “god prompts” are a thing and I get a little spooked by it.

Does anyone have any advice on how to AI proof your videos? I know I’ve seen trademarks being used, I remember one makeup creator would leave a blue mark on her face so if her video was copied it would be with a big blue mark. It’s just getting more and more advanced and hard to tell. So I want to protect myself. Thanks for the help in advance!
