Questions for Support:

Dear Support Team,

I am reaching out regarding a persistent and disruptive issue with the Wave Link software following a recent system update.

My Setup:

  • Hardware: Mac Studio (M4 Max)
  • OS: macOS Tahoe 26.5
  • Software Version: Wave Link 3.x (Latest update)

The Issue: Ever since updating to macOS Tahoe 26.5 a few weeks ago, the Wave Link application interface randomly forces itself open every few seconds to every few minutes. It constantly interrupts my workflow by popping up on screen without user intervention.

I have noticed similar complaints from other macOS users on Reddit experiencing the same behavior after recent updates.

Questions for Support:

  1. Is this a known compatibility conflict between Wave Link 3.x and macOS Tahoe 26.5?
  2. What is your recommended course of action? Should I wait for an upcoming hotfix, or is it stable/recommended to downgrade to a previous version (like Wave Link 2.x) in the interim? If a downgrade is recommended, could you provide the secure download link and any specific instructions to ensure preferences aren't corrupted?

Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your guidance on how to resolve this.

Best regards,

Luis Deleon

Anyone else on macOS Tahoe 26.5 having Wave Link 3.0 constantly force open? (Mac Studio M4 Max)

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to figure out if I’m just having incredibly bad luck, or if this is a widespread bug affecting Mac users after the recent Apple updates.

Ever since I updated my Mac Studio (M4 Max) to macOS Tahoe 26.5, my Elgato Wave Link 3.0 software has been acting completely possessed. Here is what's happening:

  • The Trigger: Any time I open YouTube, a media player, or any application/software that handles audio, Wave Link immediately forces itself open.
  • The Loop: I close the app, but within a few seconds or minutes, it just launches itself right back up again.

It’s getting incredibly frustrating to deal with during daily workflows and recording sessions. I've heard rumblings from a few people on Facebook and YouTube saying they are dealing with the exact same issue every time a sound-heavy app is triggered, so I know I'm not entirely alone—but I wanted to check here to see if the Reddit community is seeing this too.

I don't have a Windows machine anymore to test if it's cross-platform, so this seems highly tied to the latest Mac update. Classic Apple update breaking things, right?

  • Is anyone else on the Mac side seeing this constant auto-open behavior?
  • If you found a workaround or temporary fix, please let me know!

Thanks guys, appreciate any insight. Have a great day!

Sick of the "Apple vs. Third-Party" blame game. I love my Mac Studio, but we need better communication on updates.

Hey everyone,

I need to clear something up because my last post got totally twisted. Some people claimed I hate Apple or I'm just complaining about the "Tahoe" update. That couldn’t be further from the truth. I literally spent $2,000 on a Mac Studio to prove the Windows haters wrong. I love Apple products and I’m never going back to PC. I am fighting for us Mac users, not against anyone.

My issue isn't with Apple as a company; it's with the lack of active, real-time collaboration with third-party developers during major OS rollouts. Right now, my Elgato Wave Link software is constantly crashing and opening by itself. Elgato blames Apple, Apple's system breaks the app, and the user gets stuck in a frustrating back-and-forth crap.

Yes, I know Apple gives developers beta access months in advance. But clearly, the current system of "here's the software, deal with it" isn't seamless enough. There needs to be a more direct, active line of communication between Apple and major third-party devs so that when an update drops, our critical apps don't instantly break.

I'm trying to help the Apple community here. We pay a premium for these machines, and we deserve a software ecosystem where Apple and companies like Elgato actually talk with each other to fix bugs before they hit our machines.

Let's actually read and understand the point before jumping down someone's throat. Have a good one.

Dear Apple

s anyone else sick of macOS Tahoe updates constantly breaking third-party apps (OBS, Wave Link, etc.)?

Hey everyone, just need to vent and see if I'm alone here.

I bought a new Mac back in December 2025. I’ve only had it a few months, and every single time there is a new macOS Tahoe update or security patch, my system goes into chaos. Apps start opening and closing by themselves, or just crashing out of nowhere.

I understand that security updates are necessary to keep us safe from malware, but it feels like Apple is completely ignoring the third-party ecosystem. I rely on apps like OBS and Wave Link to get my work done from home, and every minor update completely breaks them. It’s like Apple only cares if their native software works perfectly, leaving the rest of us out to dry.

They push these updates out to "improve" the system, but for those of us who actually use our Macs for work with non-Apple software, it just makes things worse. We aren't tech-illiterate; we can clearly see that the updates are what's breaking our setups.

Apple really needs to start collaborating with major third-party developers before releasing these updates. Is anyone else experiencing this with Tahoe, or has anyone found a way to completely block these automatic updates? This is getting ridiculous.

A lot of people said the Stream Deck+ XLR Dock setup wouldn’t work, so I wanted to share my real-world experience because mine has been working perfectly.

A lot of people said the Stream Deck+ XLR Dock setup wouldn’t work, so I wanted to share my real-world experience because mine has been working perfectly.

What I did:

- Took apart the Stream Deck+

- Installed the XLR Dock

- Reassembled everything

- Unplugged all USB-C/Thunderbolt devices from my computer

- Connected my OWC Thunderbolt 5 Hub

- Plugged the Stream Deck+ into the OWC hub via USB-C

Before reconnecting anything else, my friend (who owns a computer repair shop) told me to see if the Stream Deck would boot first.

It powered on immediately and all my settings/buttons were still there.

Then we tested the microphone using voice-to-text and it worked perfectly right away.

I completed this setup on April 27, and as of today (May 15), it’s still running flawlessly with zero issues.

I’m also using 48V phantom power with a FIFINE K669C condenser mic and people say the audio sounds great.

Elgato says this setup isn’t officially supported, but from my personal experience, it absolutely works. Bruce from Elgato also confirmed this would NOT void my warranty, which mattered to me.

Honestly, I think the community figured this out before the company fully tested it themselves. There’s clearly demand for these combinations, and I think Elgato could benefit from working more closely with users doing compatibility testing.

Not trying to make Elgato look bad — just sharing what successfully worked for me.

If anyone wants screenshots or proof of the setup, just ask.

Just posting proof that the Stream Deck+ XL and the Elgato XLR Mic Dock Mk.2 work 100% with a cheap FIFINE condenser microphone. I’m still using this setup and I’m not changing microphones yet.

I understand why Elgato says it may not work — a lot of people don’t have powerful PCs, Thunderbolt 5 hubs, or strong USB-C connections. I get their policy.

My only opinion is that they could have explained it better by saying it can work with a stronger computer and a better USB-C/Thunderbolt setup, instead of just saying it doesn’t work.

Here’s my proof and links showing it works perfectly for me.

Just because this worked for me doesn’t mean you need to copy what I did or buy a $2,000 computer to make it work. I only wanted to prove the haters wrong after being picked on online. That’s why I went live and showed everything as proof.

I still love ELGATO products and will continue buying their equipment.

Please try this at your own risk. Thanks for watching, and have a wonderful day. Peace!

I successfully got the ELGATO Stream Deck Plus XL working together with the XLR Dock Mark II — even though ELGATO says it may not officially work or may not be recommended.

The reason they probably say that is because both devices are VERY power hungry, and they likely don’t want users having bad experiences or hardware issues and then blaming them. Honestly, I understand why they say that.

Here’s my setup that made it work perfectly:

  • Elgato Stream Deck Plus XL
  • Elgato XLR Dock Mark II
  • OWC Thunderbolt 5 Hub
  • Apple Mac Studio M4 Max (2025)
  • Wave Link 3.0 software from Elgato

The key seems to be having a VERY powerful Thunderbolt setup with enough power delivery and bandwidth.

I tested the setup for over an hour with audio running, and my sound never broke once. Tomorrow I’m going to test it again using 48V phantom power with my new FIFINE microphone and I’ll update everyone with the results.

Microphones I currently use:

  • Elgato Wave:3
  • Elgato Wave DX
  • RØDE PodMic
  • FIFINE Tank 6
  • FIFINE K669C

Just because ELGATO says something may not work doesn’t always mean it’s impossible. Sometimes it simply means it hasn’t been officially tested or supported.

Of course, if you try this yourself, do your own research and understand the risks.

Hope this helps someone out there. Have a wonderful day!

I am reaching out regarding a logistical challenge I’m facing with my current setup. I am using one of your products, but the provided cable is too short to reach my computer, which is positioned a few feet away.

I have considered moving the computer closer, but I am looking for the most efficient and effective solution to bridge this distance without compromising performance.

Attached to this email are several photos showing the current layout of my desk and the distance between the device and the computer. Could you please advise on the following:

1. Extension Recommendations: Are there specific high-quality extension cables or longer replacement cables you recommend that maintain full data/power integrity for this specific device?

2. Setup Advice: Based on the photos, do you have any suggestions for reconfiguring the hardware to make the current cable work?

I appreciate your time and look forward to your guidance on the easiest way to resolve this.

🧵 Reddit Post (r/elgato or r/streaming**)**

Tone: Informative, technical, and slightly "told-you-so."

Title: Success Report: Stream Deck Plus XL + XLR Dock Mark 2 (Mac Studio M4 Max)

I’ve seen a lot of people (including some big names) saying this combo might have issues, but I just finished setting it up and it is working 100%.

The Context: My old Stream Deck had a loose USB-C port held together by tape, so it was time for an upgrade. I’m using a Mac Studio M4 Max and an OWC Thunderbolt 5 hub.

The Installation:

  1. Connected the OWC Hub directly to the Mac Studio.

  2. Used the original Stream Deck XL cable to connect the unit to the Thunderbolt 5 hub (crucial for power).

  3. Installed the XLR Mark 2 Dock into the back of the XL.

  4. Tested 48V Phantom Power, mic switching, and headphone monitoring.

Everything works without a single hitch. It seems like having a high-end hub and the M4 Mac power management makes the difference compared to what others are seeing on Windows.

Note: As always, YMMV. Do your own research before buying, but the "impossible" setup is currently the heart of my 2026 studio!

Subject: Successful Integration Report: XLR Mark 2 Dock & Stream Deck Plus XL (macOS)

I am writing to share a successful hardware configuration for the 2026 Elgato lineup. Despite conflicting reports online, I have confirmed that the XLR Mark 2 Dock functions perfectly when paired with the Stream Deck Plus XL under specific power conditions.

Hardware Environment:

Host: Mac Studio (M4 Max)

Interface: OWC Thunderbolt 5 Hub

Peripherals: 4K X Capture Card, XLR Mark 2 Dock.

Configuration Steps:

• The OWC Thunderbolt 5 hub is connected via a primary host port.

• The Stream Deck Plus XL is connected to the hub using the original factory cable to ensure maximum data/power throughput.

• The XLR Dock is seated and secured via the rear mounting screws.

Results:

48V Phantom Power: Stable.

Audio Passthrough: 100% functional.

Device Recognition: Immediate.

Thank you, Elgato, for the 2026 equipment updates. For users on high-spec Mac systems, this combination appears to be a viable and powerful solution.

Dear Elgato,

I need some honest answers. I recently visited a friend who is running a Stream Deck + XL paired with the XLR Dock Mark II. Despite your official stance that these aren’t compatible due to power issues, his setup is working 100% perfectly using the original cables—no hubs, no extra power, just a direct connection to his Mac Pro and Mac Mini.

I’ve seen it work with my own eyes, and I’ve seen YouTubers doing the same. If the community is proving that these devices work together without issues, why are you telling customers it isn't possible? Is this a lack of testing, or are you just being overly cautious about power draw?

I own the XL and I want to use the XLR Dock, but your warnings are making me hesitant to invest. If it works for others, why won't you officially support it? We deserve a real explanation, not just a "it won't work" script.

Looking forward to the truth.

Is the "Power Issue" actually real?

Hey Elgato, I’m confused. You keep telling customers that the Stream Deck + XL and the XLR Dock Mark II won't work together, but I just saw this exact setup running 100% stable at a friend's studio on a Mac Pro. No extra cables, no special hubs—just the original gear.

If users and YouTubers are proving they are compatible, why is the official word still "no"? Are you guys planning a firmware update to officially support this, or are you just playing it safe? I want to buy the dock for my XL, but I need the truth on why you're saying it's a no-go when the hardware clearly handles it. Stop gatekeeping the compatibility!

A Quick Note on the "Why"

Just to play devil's advocate: Elgato usually plays it safe because the Stream Deck + XL draws more power than the standard version. While it works on high-end hardware (like your friend's Mac Pro, which has very high-output USB ports), it might fail or "brown out" on a cheaper laptop or an unpowered USB hub. They likely say "it doesn't work" to avoid technical support headaches from people with weaker USB ports.

But you're right—if the port can handle the juice, there's no reason it shouldn't work!
