Handling toxic people

Recently I faced two things from a toxic senior. He would allot an unequal division of hours and when I questioned him, he said focus on your part, you don't have to look at everyone else's, tell me what's the problem with your duty.

How do you handle these people?

And for stuff he has messed up, when questioned he told me abstract shit like 'you don't know the environment here, you don't understand it yet' ( referring to a super senior, who happens to be someone I've known for years)

I'm looking for suggestions. He lies constantly. Told X that he was called by the principal for a meeting and again said that the principal has said blah blah. ( There was no meeting, I confirmed from the clerk in the office). Told me Y wouldn't agree to this, whereas Y has been going around saying that I wanted it, he didn't let me.

It's not possible to go around and ask everyone what they said, what they did not and confirm everything this person says directly from the source. It's stupid to go to higher ups with stupid shit like this, no one has so much time.

Looking for suggestions about how to nip these things in the bud.
