▲ 10 r/gout

Did everything right and just got the worst flare of my life.

Gout is really impacting my quality of life, it’s been two weeks and my flare up has actually gotten worse.

Mid 30s, been working out and eating right consistently since high school. I also stopped drinking after I knew I had gout a few years ago. Been on allo for over a year after having a bad flare and have had no issues until about two weeks ago. It started with minor tingling that came and went but last night it got really painful and went to urgent care.

The nurse there that took my vitals kept trying to convince me that it’s probably not gout because I was so young and fit which kind of made me more pissed off about my condition. I live a healthy life style, eat right, exercise consistently and take my meds yet I keep getting punished for existing while some people treat their bodies like shit and are perfectly fine.

Urgent care is useless and just gave me was some indomethacin and sent me on my way. I got an appointment with my primary care but will need a referral for a specialist.

The worst part is that I can’t play with my kid, or help around the house. The physical pain and frustration with the situation is putting me in a terrible mood and head space. I am not the person I usually am or want to be.
