Summer Itinerary Help! Family travel
We are planning a family trip to Switzerland this summer. I have made reservations to ensure we have places to stay, but we are still within the cancellation window and I would love some feedback. I don’t love the itinerary, but I can’t say why exactly.
- 10 nights
- 2 adults and a 5.5 year old
- August
- Public transit (no car)
- Flying in and out of Zurich
- It is important not to have any train travel times more than 3.5 hours
- On our last night we want to be able to easily access the airport
Current plan:
Day 1: arrive in Zurich in the morning, train to Ticino. 3 nights at https://campagnola.ch/
Day 4: train to Stoos (3.5 hrs). 4 nights at https://stoos-lodge.ch/en/
Day 8: Funicular to Schwyz, 10 min taxi to https://swissholidaypark.ch/ for 3 nights
Day 11: train to airport (1 hr), flight around noon
We want a variety of relaxing and outdoor activities. We tried to pick places where our son can play and have fun while we can enjoy scenery and relax. For context, I have previously been to Switzerland (love it!) but this will be my husband and son’s first times We specifically picked Switzerland because it seems so family friendly.
I think the thing I’m struggling with is that I wanted us to go to the Jungfrau region- it looks like great playgrounds, scenery, and kid-friendly hikes. I just don’t know what I want to give up for it. Should we eliminate Ticino and Stoos and just do Murren and Morschach? Side question: can we get to Lucern by boat for a day trip from the Swiss Holiday Park hotel? It seems long by train but I wasn’t sure if there was an option to cut across the lake.
I would love any insight and appreciate your time!
