We all know that Naomi's disappearance was the thing that led L to lock into 2 families, Yagami and Kitamura family. now, L didnt really put much thought into Naomi's disappearance but what if he did. i just want to expand on that here

L gets the call about naomi's disappearance about 4-5 days after she met light and got killed. lets see what information L already has. He already knows that Kira is probably a student and has connections to the police. after he gets called about naomi's disappearance he deduces that naomi's disappearance or suicide doesnt actually make any sense. she would actually be actively trying to catch kira and might have uncovered some crutial evidence against kira and if she did, did kira manage to get to her first? this was where L's thought about naomi ends. what if we expand it.

if we assume that she got killed by kira, then kira must have known about her and that she has crutial evidence against him but, how did he know? its not like she would be shouting on the streets that i have information against kira, she must have gone somewhere where she could actually report this thing, which is the police station where she went. the police station is the only place where she would actually tell this. L already knew that kira has connections to the police, so its possible that kira was present at the police station when she told them. thats the only way kira would have even known about naomi's existence. but the thing is, she used an alias, so her name wouldnt be on the police logs, so there is no definite time where he would be able to check security footage, so to get to know who listened to the information about kira, L would have to check days of footage just to find naomi and who talked to her. but since naomi was the one who uncovered the information, the suspects list is only 2 families, so while there is a possibility that she used alias, there is no reason for the people of those families to use alias, so just checking the footage of the entries of the people from those families we should be able to find naomi, and if we dont, then the people who were present at the time of the report of naomi would become suspects ( this point covers that if kira was not one of the members of the two families and naomi still got killed as only those people knew that naomi had information about kira), we would have to check days of footage but there is a strong possibility that we would find kira, so its worth the time as L went over the footage of light's house multiple times for days.

also this thing depends on the fact that naomi did try to catch kira and uncovered some evidence and got killed by him, this would be an absolute waste of time if she was actually just griefing about her husband's death and committed genuine suicide, but since L already knew about her and her talents, we can give this thing a little whoosh.

please analyse this and give your counter arguments, it would be highly appreciated

I just read Death Note Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases and i dont get it, why is it having 4.2 rating? Its an absolute abomination when compared to original death note, it is marketed as a battle of wits between l and beyond birthday, but there was nothing of this sort in it. L was just a character who showed up in between as an all knowing character to guide or command Naomi Misora. The entire story was just beyond birthday manipulating Naomi into finding his absurd clues.

And now a few conclusions i drew from the story even when its marketed that way.

I think beyond birthday never had the shinigami eyes.
Its just mello's dramatic writing where he suggests that he had the eyes. Why?
At first, its impossible that a random person gets shinigami eyes according to the rules of death note, only the owner of the death note, not even the borrower or the toucher can make the shinigami eye deal. Its forbidden to have sex between shinigami and humans, so just breeding and passing on the traits cant happen, and like mello suggested, that a shinigami just dropped its eyes, so lets just move on and just assume that by some mysterious godly intervention bb got the eyes.

Its stated by the writer that he created a mathematical formula to get the lifespan of light and then he forgot. the shinigami also see that string of numbers only, and bb will also see only the string of numbers and not the date when someone is going to die. lets just again assume that he was one of the geniuses at wammy's house and somehow cracked the formula and is now able to calculate the life spans of people.

Now its marketed as bb used these shinigami eyes to choose his victims which would make the case seem supernatural to L and thus unsolvable with his death. Now, why the hell would L think of his killings as a supernatural thing? to L it would just seem like a serial killer going to places killing people in a gruesome way leaving some clues behind as a puzzle. L is not able to see the lifespans of them, then why would he assume that someone is killing them based on their ending lifespan given by the shinigami eyes?
Even if we assume that he was using the shinigami eyes as intended, then too he is actually bound by that power, he can only choose his victims if their lifespans are ending, it is not a luxury, and the only thing that the shinigami eyes do is that they confirm that the victim will die, since its impossible to influence the lifespans of people without the death note, because its a supernatural thing and cant be changed by a human, so we can safely assume if he attacked a person whose lifespan is not ending then he will not die, no matter what, something will happen and save the victim.

We saw that bb runs away after attacking Naomi because he knows she will live, but by a reasonable standpoint, we can assume that he saw the capoeira skills of Naomi and just fled to save himself.

What would have actually made the case really what it has been marketed as a supernatural serial killer thing, if he actually never killed the victims. Yes, that way the victims would die no matter what, as their lifespans are determined to end, not even the death note can stop that, then the victims would die of natural causes, like heart attack, slipping on the floor and hitting on the head, whatever, if he only left the clues like he left in the original one and the victim died of natural causes, the police and L would be absolutely baffled. Like how is a serial killer killing without actually killing them? it would have been like the first kira killing type thing. The only logical conclusion would have been that the killer somehow knew their time of death to leave the clues at their house. this would have been a supernatural thing which L didnt believe until much later during kira case. if bb was a genius as they say, he must at least have deduced this much.

i have also forgotten a few things which i initially thought during reading, yeah, how did mello even know that bb had the eyes? did l tell him? thats utterly impossible because L didnt believe in supernatural until just before his death. so mello just assumes that bb had the eyes. His motivation is also to present L as an absolute monster in intelligence, so winning against someone with supernatural powers would present L like some god like figure in deduction, so i think its fair to assume that mello just added the shinigami eyes for thriller.

Please poke some holes in my theory if you think of something better. i would absolutely appreciate that.
