Any folks gave up career or have parents/in-laws care for kids?

Genuine question as a close relative who is on a verge of giving up her career to care for kids as her kids are taking PSLE soon (P4 & P5) & she wouldn’t want her children to do badly in their exams as her children might not have a good career in the future if their studies are affected given current uncertainties in the world, things might get worse in future. Trying to think of some good advice to give her besides giving up her career.

Have y’all been in similar situation where either your parent/grandparent cared for you as a kid while you were growing up with your other parent worked or yourself/spouse/parents/in-laws currently planning/stepping in/have stepped in previously to care for your kids? How are you preparing if going to do so/How did it turn out for yourself previously as a kid/for your kid as personally had no one care for me growing up other then being provided with basic meals hence interested to know.

244,000 millionaires in S'pore... and a birth rate of 0.87. We're rich but we're shrinking.

Just read the UBS Global Wealth Report 2026, and the numbers for Singapore are jaw-dropping:

Average wealth per adult: US$527,217 (S$683,600) – ranking 6th globally.

US-dollar millionaires: 244,000up by 5,240 people.

Financial assets make up 63.8% of gross wealth here.

Amazing, right? A tiny red dot that's absolutely swimming in cash.

But then I look at the other headline that's been doing the rounds... and it's a very different story.

Our resident total fertility rate (TFR) for 2025 hit a record low of 0.87.

Let that sink in. 0.87. Down from 1.24 just a decade ago.

What does that actually mean? Only 27,500 resident babies were born in 2025 – the lowest number in our recorded history. For every 100 residents today, we'd have just 44 children and 19 grandchildren.

Moral of story - Folks come here to make money & not babies.

Got suspended on Carousell for a category error... that their OWN AI auto-generated

Has anyone else experienced this?

I recently listed an office headset on Carousell. The platform’s AI scanned my picture, auto-categorized it under "Office & Business Technology," and it even generated a title & description for me. I checked it over, everything looked correct, so I hit 'List'.

A couple of hours later, I got a notification that my account has been suspended! The reason? "Mis-categorizing" the item. Apparently, it should have been in "Parts & Accessories" instead of "Office & Business Technology."

I was given the option to accept the suspension or appeal. I immediately appealed, explaining that it seems incredibly unfair to penalize sellers for a mistake that Carousell's own AI system made. If the platform scans, categorizes, and writes the description, and it looks in order to the seller, how is it our fault?

Well, I got a notification today that my appeal was declined! No further explanation, just a big fat no.

I'm honestly shocked. My account is suspended over a category that their system picked. I even double-checked it!

Is this just me? Has anyone else been screwed over by Carousell's AI recommendation and then had their appeal declined? Feeling like there’s zero logic here.
