I'm a 31-year-old male and have just moved here due to my partner's family member being very ill. They're based rurally (30 mins out of the city to the west).

I'm looking for a place to flat in a neighbourhood that offers a peaceful vibe but don't know much about the suburbs of ChCh. I've been driving around a bit, trying to check different places out. I'm into sports, enjoy a nature walk, good coffee/food and having a beer at the pub. What areas do you recommend to live in that aren't party central, but also aren't full family spec or full of crackheads? I did look at Sumner originally but this is probably too far east given my partner being out in Selwyn.

My budget can be flexible for the right place.

Recommendations for a cheap drink after work, ideally in or around the CBD?

It could be anything - coffee, a park, a restaurant, an activity, a nice view. I've just moved here and I'm keen to check out hidden gems around the city and suburbs.
