I’ve been working at my company for 3 years and just learned something that completely changed how I see everything.

My manager (mid-50s) has been married to his wife for ~30 years. Our boss is in his 70s and extremely wealthy. Apparently, about 20 years ago, my manager’s wife worked as my boss’s secretary, and they were caught in a full-on affair. She had to leave the job because of it.

Here’s the part I can’t wrap my head around:

- My manager and his wife stayed married

- He STILL works for the same boss

- He’s very loyal to him (to the point it feels excessive)

- She recently came back to work at the company in a different role

- They’re just… living a normal life (even still have a mortgage, no obvious “benefit” from any of this)

I only found out recently and it honestly makes me question everything about workplace dynamics, power, and relationships here.

Is this as insane as it sounds to me, or am I missing something about how people handle these situations?
